Product marketing director Helen
Wade said: “As these brands are
exclusively available from VOW, they
have been competitively priced so our
resellers have the opportunity to make
more margin and increase profitability.
These products aren’t sub-standard,
cost-effective alternatives to popular
products, but are brands in their own
right. They have been specifically
developed to meet resellers’ needs in
growing categories.”
VOW is promoting the brands both to
resellers and end users with sampling
campaigns, blogger engagement and
targeted marketing. Each brand will
have its own product experts, dedicated
marketing resource and marketing
materials, including ‘how to sell’ guides
for resellers, dedicated websites and
social media channels.
Exertis appoints commercial head for its mobile division
Exertis has appointed Richard Ferguson as head of commercial
for Exertis Mobile. In his new role, Ferguson will be responsible
for engaging with mobile device and accessories vendors across
the consumer and B2B sectors. He will report to Exertis consumer
commercial director Liam La Cumbre.
Ferguson said: “It’s an exciting time at Exertis. The creation of a
new consumer business unit will add further opportunities for mobile
in the retail arena. I am looking forward to working with the vendors to
drive incremental business for our customers.”
VOW price cut
June saw VOW reduce prices on 95% of its top selling products, following a review of Sterling’s
performance against the Euro and US Dollar.
VOW managing director Adrian Butler said: “We made a commitment to our resellers to monitor
currency fluctuations and keep them informed in light of the difficult market conditions of the last 12
months. This price reduction comes at a key time when our resellers will be reviewing prices at the half
year point. We will continue to monitor and review areas where we can add value to their businesses
and pass on any benefits.”
Minimalist monitor receives
COMPUTEX d&i award
The PDS241 monitor by AOC and Studio
F. A. Porsche has received the COMPUTEX
d&i award. The minimalist display is
just 5.2mm thick and has no power
or display connectors behind. Instead,
power and display cables run through
the asymmetrical metal stand and into
an external modular box. The COMPUTEX
d&i awards are organised by the Taiwan
External Trade Development Council
(TAITRA) and iF DESIGN ASIA.
Westcoast
Retail
embraces VR
Westcoast
Retail
has signed
an exclusive partnership with HTC to
distribute and provide fulfilment services
for the HTC Vive Virtual Reality platform
and accessories.
Westcoast Retail MD Carl Oxley, said:
“We are delighted to have been selected
by HTC to distribute its incredible Vive
Virtual Reality platform throughout Europe.
VR is a hot sector with the potential to
invigorate the wider technology market,
and we’re well placed to provide an
effective and efficient distribution network
for HTC to deliver against that promise.”
He added: “Our services can be applied
to almost any vertical and we are excited to
be part of the rapidly developing gaming and
virtual reality spheres.”
Tech Data adds to Consumer Technology Group
Tech Data has made three appointments
to the Consumer Technology Group
(CTG) it set up in February to maximise
opportunities in consumer technologies,
such as consumer PCs, the smart home,
PC gaming, VR and wearables.
Ross Turner has been made general
manager of CTG external sales, with
responsibility for managing customer
engagement and relationships; Catherine
Craig has been named business manager
for consumer hardware, which incorporates
consumer PCs and components, PC gaming
and home networking and smart home
products; and Teresa Johnston has been
appointed business development manager
for smart home.
Matt Child, who heads up the CTG, said:
“We are now seeing an unprecedented
wave of new development in which the lines
between product categories are becoming
blurred. The market has moved on from
a product-based sell – it’s now about
propositions, ecosystems and connected
experiences. As these markets develop, this
will become even more important. We see
very significant growth in these areas and
we will be making strategic and targeted
investments to ensure that Tech Data leads
the way in identifying opportunities and
opening them up for our vendor partners and
customers.”
