The autumn launch of Canon’s new

            MAXIFY brand marked the company’s

entry into the business inkjet market.

          The range consists of four

          multifunctional devices and one single

          function printer and complements, rather

than competes with, the firm’s i-Sensys

brand which is aimed at businesses that

have a preference for laser output, print

larger volumes or share devices among

multiple users. In contrast, the MAXIFY

          range is aimed at micro-businesses,

          professional home-based users or small

businesses (one to eight users) looking

for an entry level colour product with a

          competitive price point.

          These optimised-for-business models

          provide customers with connected devices

          that produce professional quality colour

printing and high quality copying, scanning

          and faxing.

          Wi-Fi connectivity enables wireless

          printing from mobile devices, while

Canon’s MAXIFY Cloud Link offers printing

and scanning directly from the printer

screen to cloud storage providers such as

          Evernote, Dropbox, OneDrive and Google

          Drive.

          The MAXIFY Printing Solutions

App delivers similar functionality on a

smartphone or tablet. The printers are also

          compatible with mobile printing solutions

such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud

          “Small businesses are increasingly

seeing IT as an enabler to drive business

          productivity,” said Mark Robinson, Market

Business Developer at Canon UK and

          Ireland. “While we know businesses

ultimately want reliable and cost efficient

          printers and connectivity features are

becoming far more important, the ability

to print anywhere, directly from mobile

or tablet, or even from a range of cloud

          storage providers through dedicated

          mobile printing applications, means that

SMBs can take the office with them like

          never before.”

          Research commissioned by Canon

and conducted by B2B International in

July 2014 revealed that many UK SMBs

are missing out on the benefits of this

          technology because they are unaware

of its potential or see mobile printing as

          complicated.

“Yet early adopters have told us

the exact opposite, claiming that ease

of use and speed are real benefits of

          this technology,” said Robinson. “Our

MAXIFY range has not only enhanced our

offering to SMB customers, but allows

us to deliver greater choice to business

owners who value the freedom to choose

the technology that will best support their

business now and as it grows in the future,

regardless of how far along they are in

          creating a truly connected workplace.”

All models have been designed with

durability in mind – with the MAXIFY

          MB5050, MB5350 and iB4050 able to

support higher print volumes of up to

1,500 pages per month. The new devices

also maximise productivity; A4 print speeds

are 23 ipm (images per minute) for black

and white and 15 ipm for colour, and First

Print Out Time is as low as seven seconds.

In addition, the MAXIFY MB5350 features

Canon’s new Single Pass 2-sided Scan

functionality, which allows both sides of a

          document to be scanned simultaneously,

boosting scan and copy speeds and saving

          valuable time.

Another point of difference is that

MAXIFY printers use a new Dual Resistant

High Density (DRHD) ink that has been

          designed specifically for the range.

Building on Canon’s FINE ink technology,

the new ink is specially formulated for

business documents and is water, friction

and marker resistant for extra durability.

Allowing small businesses to produce high

quality documents, the DRHD ink delivers

striking black text and vivid colours on

          graphics, whilst also enabling small

businesses to benefit from low cost per

          page printing.

“Maxify inks are brand new and built

around a completely new system,” said

Robinson. “They are single ink models,

they are pigment-based and they are all

XL cartridges, so they have much higher

yields. The inks also have increased water

resistance, so there is no bleed when you

          use a highlighter.”

The range is available through a

          number of channels including retail

outlets to meet the needs to small and

          home office users.

            ...they allow

            us to deliver

            greater choice
