The Premier Paper Group, the UK’s largest
independent paper merchant, has supported
October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month
with a variety of fund-raising activities,
including a £10 donation for every tonne of
Multicopy paper sold during the month.
Staff played their part by hosting a coffee
and cake morning and by selling Breast Cancer
Care pin badges for £1, with Premier donating
an additional £1 for every one sold.
In November, a group of employees is taking
part in this year’s Winter Wolf Run, a 10k off-
road run and obstacle course. All proceeds are
being donated to Breast Cancer Care.
BIC reminds teens of the
importance of handwriting
BIC has been using its marketing muscle
to encourage young people to rediscover
the joys of writing. As part of this
year’s #JustWriteDay on July 21, the
pen manufacturer produced the British
Illustrated Chronicle (B.I.C.) in association
with the literary charity Ministry of Stories
set up by author Nick Hornby.
The newspaper prompted readers to imagine
what the implications of losing handwriting
might be, with all original content and artwork
produced in long-hand using BIC 4 Colours pens.
BIC research reveals that just 1% of teens
use handwriting to communicate, yet three
quarters (73%) admit they prefer to receive a
handwritten note or letter over any other form
of communication.
Almost all adults polled (98%) said
they would like to see their children write
more. Almost three quarters (71%) think
that being able to handwrite boosts
confidence; 66% agree that it aids hand-
eye coordination; and 63% believe that it
helps with fine motor skills.
Green fineliner
Schneider claims that its new fineliner, Line
Up, is the first to be made from bio-based
plastic. Schneider’s use of bio plastic instead of
petroleum-based plastics will help to conserve
scarce oil reserves. Line Up comes in 30 colours
and has a rubberised, ergonomic, three-edged
barrel for a relaxed writing feel.

New ownership for London
Stationery Show
Ocean Media Group, a provider of exhibitions,
events, awards and specialist publications,
has acquired The London Stationery Show,
a trade exhibition for the paper and writing
products industry; the consumer awareness
campaign National StationeryWeek; and
Stationery Magazine.
Since the event was founded in 2011 by
Chris Leonard-Morgan, the London Stationery
Show has trebled in size, attracting a growing
number of suppliers every year. The 2017 show
is on course to continue this upward trajectory,
with record re-bookings following this year’s
event and over 85% of the 2016 stand space
already booked.
Chris Leonard-Morgan, who will remain in
place as an advisor alongside the existing team,
said: “The London Stationery Show has much to
gain from the Ocean Media Group, who have a
wealth of experience working with and attracting
large B2B and B2C audiences to their exhibitions,
events and publications. We are looking forward
to making the most of the support, experience
and investment that they can offer.”
The 2017 London Stationery Show is taking
place at the Business Design Centre on 25-26
April, during National StationeryWeek (April
24-30).
Colour and write
Doodling and colouring are a great way to relax,
as more and more adults are rediscovering.
To capitalise on this trend, Pukka Pads has
launched a limited edition project book that
includes six full size pages to colour in and
Doodle Bars along the bottom of the other
pages. The Colour
& Personalise
Project Book is also
a practical and
functional business
tool, boasting
colour coded
re-positionable
dividers and
storage pockets.
