Office buyers should head to Halls
3.0 (office products), 4.0 (writing and
drawing utensils) and 5.0 (computer and
printing supplies). Exhibitor displays in
the office sector will be complemented
by a special show about the ‘workplace
of the future’, with expert lectures and
additional presentations on products
that support flexibility and mobility in
the workplace.
Hall 3.0 will also be home to
Paperworld Plaza, a concept first
implemented in 2015 that gives
members of the PBS-Office Brands
Industry Association a platform to
present their latest products to visitors.
Internationally renowned companies
taking part include Durable, Exacompta,
Ideal Krug & Priester, Schneider, tesa and
Trodat.
The 2017/18 Trend Show will take
place in the foyer of Halls 5.1 and
6.1. Created by ‘trend bureau’ bora.
herke.palmisano, the show will explore
emerging colours, themes and trends
in the office working environment and

demand for solutions that combine
functional design with style and well-
being and the growing popularity of

and pale yellow accent colours.

Looking to the future
Paperworld 2017 will take place on
January 28-31 2017 in Frankfurt,
Germany. Paperworld is the leading
international trade and industry
fair for the paper, office supplies
and stationery sector, and provides
visitors with an unrivalled overview
of product and market trends under
one roof.
A truly international show, the last
Paperworld saw 1,608 exhibitors from
59 countries present their products and
services and more than 36,700 retailers
and trade buyers visit Frankfurt to attend
the four-day trade fair.
The Paperworld 2017 slogan and
motto ‘Hello tomorrow’ and ‘The
visionary office and the stationery
trends’ point to a key theme of next
year’s event: the office of the future.
Paperworld will be presenting a
number of future office concepts based
on the findings of a new study,
Working
Spaces 2025
, undertaken by the Pragma
Institute on behalf of Messe Frankfurt.
In the survey of German office
workers, more than half said they expect
employers to have massively improved
the quality of their office environment
by 2025.
The Pragma Institute study reveals
widespread discontent with the status
quo, with 41% expressing dissatisfaction
with their working environment, citing
a lack of say in office design and
inadequate ergonomic features, lighting
and acoustics. Six out of 10 office
workers (61%) say they are looking for
flexibility and would prefer not to be tied
to a single, fixed workspace.
Almost two thirds (62%) of
respondents expect traditional office
supplies and stationery to continue to
decline in importance, though just 9%
think they will be ‘very unimportant’ or
‘not important at all’ in 10 years’ time.
Almost half (43%) expect there to be
a new balance between digital and non-
digital equipment by 2025.
The stationery and office supplies
industry has been reacting to these
broad trends for a number of years,
and, according to Paperworld Director
Michael Reichhold, Paperworld is
the place to go to see how they are
influencing product design: “For some
time now, the paper, office supplies
and stationery sector has felt the
effects of global economic dynamics
and changes in the workplace. At
Paperworld we will see that companies
are succeeding brilliantly in responding
to these changes with new products and
solutions,” he said.
Reichold added: “Paperworld is a
must for those who want to know
what makes working in the office
more efficient, healthier and more
mobile. It is only here that retailers and
commercial buyers from large offices
and administrative departments can
experience live and in colour such a
variety and concentration of technical
innovations that cannot be matched
anywhere else in the world.”
