Tohelp reduce the carbon impact of
paper, anumber of suppliers, including
PaperlinX, Premier Paper,Antalis and
Denmaur Independent Papers,have
implemented carbonoffsetting schemes.
DenmaurworkswithThe
CarbonNeutral Company to ensure that
it invests in carbonoffsetting schemes
that are verified and validated. Carbon
emissions associatedwith the entire
production and logistics process of
Denmaur’s CarbonNeutral-certified paper
is offset tonet zero.
Antalis, too,workswithThe
CarbonNeutral Company andoffers
CarbonNeutral Certified Paper that
enables customers tooffset the carbon
dioxide emissions associatedwith paper
production and distribution.The scope of
the certification includes all the carbon
dioxide emissions from papermaking
and delivery throughAntalis andon to
its customers. Products availablewith
CarbonNeutral certification include the
Image range of papers, 4CC, DataCopy
andColoraction.
Carbon capture
As a corporate partner of theWoodland
Trust, Premier Paper Group has committed
to capture theCO2 from the distribution
of several popular paper ranges including
Evolution,MultiCopy and ProDesign.
TheUKWoodlandCarbonCode
sets a new standard for carbon capture,
removing it from the atmosphere
through the creationof nativewoodland
in theUK. Premier offers customers
the opportunity to capture theCO2
emissions from themanufacture and
distributionof their paper purchases and
to invest inUK-based carbon projects.
For every order placed, Premier can
calculate the amount of CO2 generated
in the production and delivery of the
paper. Customers can elect to capture
the associated carbon, with the cost of
doing so listed as a separate itemon
their invoice.
Abalancedapproach
CarbonBalanced Paper, available from
PaperlinX, is carbonneutralised by
ecological charity theWorld LandTrust
(WLT),which ensures that carbon impacts
are balanced (offset) in an effectiveway.
WLT balances carbon through the
purchase of high conservation rainforest
thatwouldotherwise be deforested.
Carbon thatwouldotherwise be released
remains locked in and the still standing
forests continue to absorb carbon dioxide
from the atmosphere.The ecological
benefits extend beyond simple carbon
removal and include the preservation
of endangered forests and the flora and
fauna they support.
All paperswithin PaperlinX’s Carbon
Balanced Paper range have their
embedded greenhouse gas emissions
offset at the point of sale. Emissions
involved in their production aremeasured
with the assistance of the Edinburgh
Centre for CarbonManagement (ECCM),
experts in the fieldof carbon footprinting.
Awide range of popular papers
are availableCarbonBalanced at no
additional cost.Othermore specialist
products are available on anopt-in basis
where customers can choose to pay a
small additional cost.
