Alston-based mailroom equipment
manufacturer Totalpost Services plc

sales growth during the EEF Future
Manufacturing Awards 2013 at
Salford City Stadium.
The company was named
runner-up in the Outstanding Export
category sponsored by Dunedin, and
was commended by the panel of
expert judges for its savvy approach
and thorough investigation of a
challenging international market.
Totalpost manufactures franking
machine cartridges which it supplies
to customers in the USA and across
Europe, particularly France and
Germany. It has increased the share of

Future of the banknote
For the last three years, the Bank of
England has conducted a research
project looking at the materials on
which banknotes are printed. This
autumn, it held a public consultation
programme but has yet to announce
whether it will use polymer
banknotes to replace the current
cotton paper notes.
Shortly after the consultation
commenced, Two Sides commissioned
independent research company Toluna
to survey 1,000 UK consumers on their
attitude towards the proposed switch.
The study found that consumers are
generally supportive of the change.
Women are less willing to change, with
51% saying no or being undecided.
So, too are young people, with 58% of
18-34 year olds either not supporting
or being undecided about a switch
to polymer. However, there was a
significant willingness to accept the
change amongst older age groups – in
the 55+ age range, 69% of respondents
support the change.
Two Sides launches

Two Sides, the international
campaign to promote the
sustainability of print and paper
media, has announced that it will
be launching in South Africa in
cooperation with Printing SA, The
Printing Industries Federation of
South Africa
