Work life balance
Office workers with bad backs are
being invited to try out this eye-
catching ergonomic chair, which
is already used by 40,000 adults
and has been proven to prevent
back pain and encourage healthier
sitting.
The radical design of the Back App
chair was developed by Norwegian fish
farming consultant Dr Freddy Johnsen
after he had endured many years of back
pain and undergone several operations.
It is based on a patented balancing
ball that keeps the sitter in constant
motion. The seat gently balances
on an adjustable ball, while
the user rests his feet on a
footplate. A soft seat and soft
suspension provide gentle movement
around the vertical axis.
This movement is transferred
to the body at the exact point it
is needed – the core muscles of the
lower back. Sitters keep their balance
in a relaxed, stress-free position just as
they would when walking in the woods,
riding a horse or paddling a kayak.
As well as helping to alleviate back
pain, Back App encourages office workers
to be more active during the day. This
brings additional health benefits to a
group that spends a large proportion of
the day sitting down.
When you sit on Back App,
the posture in your back is the
same as if you were standing.
The Back App office chair was developed to alleviate back pain,
but it has many other benefits.
This reduces the effort of sitting upright;
increases the amount of movement used
in sitting; and encourages the body to
maintain balance in a smooth, controlled
manner.
Of his own invention, Dr. Johnsen
says: “The exercise from sitting on the
Back App has changed my life. It is part of
my daily exercise to take care of my back.
I am healthy again and can sit at my desk
with no problems.”
He is now encouraging back pain
sufferers to try the office chair out for
themselves by taking advantage of a free
one-week trial. To find out more visit
