Pen meets pencil
BIC has taken one of its fan favourites, the 4COLOURS Pen, and put an all
new twist on it with the addition of a refillable mechanical pencil and an
eraser.
The 4COLOURS Multi 3+1HB also contains three
medium ballpoint pen nibs in blue,
black and red ink.

Durable has upgraded its free online
Duraprint badge and label design
software, making it even easier to
design name badges, customer cards,
ID cards and membership cards.
Traditionally used on PC and Mac,
Duraprint now works on tablet devices,
making it ideal for last minute additions
at exhibitions and conferences. It also
works in offline mode, so projects can
progress while users are on the move.
Duraprint
supports
all image
formats,
barcodes, QR
codes, the integration
of webcam shots and the
creation of multiple names through a
database function.
Biobased plastic pen
Schneider Pen has added to its Slider
family of ballpoint pens. The new
Slider Xite is 90% made from bio-
based plastics and provides a smooth
writing experience due to its durable
stainless steel tip and ViscoGlide ink.
The refillable pen has a bright white
and cyan design, with ink available in
black, red, blue and green. Ink dries
quickly and is smudge-proof when
highlighted. The pens (all except the
red) are waterproof according to the
ISO 12757-2 ink standard.
Improve posture and
productivity
When used on a flat surface,
laptops encourage
a hunched working
position, which is
why ergonomists
recommend use of a laptop stand
like the BakkerElkhuizen Ergo-Q 260.
It is lightweight, portable and, at just
7mm thick, fits easily into a notebook
bag. The stand has 5 different height
settings, from 9cm to 21cm, and
incorporates a document holder.
Amazon to
increase UK
workforce by 25%
Amazon UK has announced plans
to create more than 5,000 full-time
jobs this year, taking the company’s
total UK workforce to more than
24,000.
The new jobs cover a variety
of roles, from software developers,
engineers and technicians to entry-
level positions.Where possible,
Amazon plans to recruit from its
seasonal workforce, pointing out that
10,000 of the company’s existing
19,000 employees started in a
seasonal role.
In addition to the full-time
roles, Amazon is launching a
new apprenticeship programme,
offering hundreds of apprenticeship
opportunities in engineering, logistics
and warehousing roles in fulfilment
centres across the country.
Last month, AmazonWeb Services
launched AWS re:Start, a free training
and job placement programme for the
UK to educate young adults as well
as military veterans, reservists, and
their spouses, on the latest software
development and cloud computing
technologies.
Working with QA Consulting, The
Prince’s Trust, and the Ministry of
Defence (MoD), AWS re:Start brings
together AWS Partner Network (APN)
partners and customers to offer work
placements to 1,000 people.
