Cloud-based collaboration
weConnect, Barco’s
collaborative
learning solution for
higher education,
provides teachers
with a new palette
of tools with which
to create their
preferred teaching methods. The solution allows
users to participate in a lecture from the comfort
of their own device. Students can interact with
the teacher using their tablet or smartphone; the
teacher can issue a poll or a quiz to solicit feedback;
remote students can pose a silent question, which
other students can Like − the possibilities are
virtually limitless.
Barco’s weConnect is a cloud-based system,
unencumbered by complex infrastructure. All users gain
access to the classroom system through a web-based
cloud app. This gives teachers full moderation control of
the content shared within the classroom, and students a
close-up view of what is being shown on the classroom
displays.
Barco’s wireless presentation and display nodes
portfolio enables students and teachers to share their
information on the central screen or the pod display with
ease. And teachers and students alike can experience the
flexibility and intuitive operation of the software via the
simple browser interface.

Avocor took the opportunity to
announce the launch of two new
product lines at BETT, the E series and
the X series. The E series, a 65-inch panel
with a built-inWindows 10 operating
system, is aimed squarely at the primary
and secondary education sector. The

operating system, is suitable for business
applications too. Initially shipping with
a display size of 75 inches, the panel has
InGlass touch technology for smooth,
accurate and responsive writing and
supports 20 simultaneous touch points.
It can also be used with an active pen
for pressure-sensitive input, with side

secondary and university applications,
such as the E-board display. Visitors

Aiptek
Offering something a little different,
Aiptek was showing its iBeamBLOCK
pico projector. Inspired by LEGO toy
blocks, the projector consists of three
stackable components: aWindows 10
tablet with helpful apps for a mobile
office; a 400 lumens DLP projector; and
a powerbank, featuring a high capacity
13,200 mAH rechargeable battery
providing two hours of continuous
projection.
The company also showed the P800
series of smart pico-projectors, featuring
a 5-inch, high resolution IPS touchscreen
tablet; 800 lumens DLP projector; quad-
directional 40 watt speakers; and built-in
microphone. These little projectors
are not only fun, but also useful for
maximising the productivity of mobile

Epson
A major attraction on Epson’s stand
was its new ultra-short-throw
interactive teaching solution, the
EB-696Ui, featuring finger-touch
and dual pen interactivity so that a
teacher and student can work together
simultaneously.
Epson highlighted research showing
that 58% of students cannot read all
content shown on a 70-inch flat panel,
pointing out that a projector with a
scalable display size of up to 100 inches
offers a more responsible and flexible
choice for education providers.
For business applications, Epson
was showing its new EB-1795F and
EB-2265U projectors, featuring smart
presenting features, such as gesture
control and screen mirroring.
