Cyber security firm Avast has appointed
Northamber as a UK distributor of its
AVG Business by Avast portfolio of small
business security products.
Under the agreement, Northamber
will supply Avast’s products to its UK
network of 5,500 active resellers and
provide marketing, flexible credit, technical
guidance and sales training support.
The agreement covers the core AVG
Business range of AVG AntiVirus and AVG
Internet Security for Business products,
plus AVG Managed Workplace, an IT
platform for end-to-end remote monitoring
and management from a single screen.

VIP UK appointment
BullGuard, a leader in consumer
security for PCs, tablets, smartphones
and the smart home, has announced
a partnership agreement for VIP UK
to distribute the company’s range
of products including BullGuard
Premium Protection, Internet Security,
Antivirus, Identity Protection and
Mobile Security.

StarWind has appointed Hammer to
distribute its simplified software-defined
storage stack, hyperconverged and
storage appliances for SMBs, remote
offices/branch offices and low- to mid-
tier enterprises.
The partnership is EMEA-wide, and
is the first time Hammer has taken on
hyperconverged technology optimised
for the SMB market. It is the exclusive
StarWind distributor in the UK, Ireland,
Germany, Benelux, Nordics and Italy.
StarWind is a one-stop shop for full-
stack virtualisation infrastructure, providing
all the solutions required for a true
software-defined datacentre for primary
and backup purposes. Its appliances are
optimised for Microsoft Hyper-V and are
also VMware-compatible.
Benefits include pre-integrated Veeam
licences for straightforward, asynchronous
backup and replication; a cloud-out option,
giving customers the ability to offload ‘cold’
data to the public cloud through service
providers such as Amazon S3; and a free-
of-charge migration service.

Bigger margins
Nimans is encouraging resellers to take advantage of free
accessories being offered by Sennheiser for some of its
popular headsets. The distributor says offers of a free standard
bottom cable with any wired desk phone headset or free
handset lifters, cables and chargers for DW or D 10 sales give
resellers an opportunity to increase margins or pass on the
savings to customers.
A sub too far
Nick Howells from the Nimans Dealer
Sales team bit off more than he
could chew on Red Nose Day, but still
managed to raise £50 for Comic Relief.
Attempting to eat his full height of 5
foot, 5 inches in Subway sandwiches,
he threw in the towel after 20 minutes,
just one foot short of his target.
