Antibacterial protection specialist
Microban has identifed the stationery
industry as one of its key targets. The
company's antibacterial technology
can be incorporated into a wide range
of consumer and B2B products at the
point of manufacture, providing durable
antibacterial and anti-fungal protection
that lasts the useful life of the product.
Paul McDonnell, managing director of
Microban Europe, said: “We envisage
growth in environments where there
is potential for cross-contamination of
bacteria – such as on plastic stationery
items that are routinely shared within an
offce, on pet products where
our treatments can safeguard both
owners and homes from bacteria and
odours, and on cooking utensils and
kitchen equipment in busy home and
commercial kitchens where cleanliness
is key.”
He added: “Research carried out by
ourselves and other companies shows
that in these environments, there is
tremendous potential for bacteria to
spread. Anyone who has worked in an
offce knows how quickly a cold or
worse can infect an entire workforce
and, partially thanks to issues such as
swine fu, awareness of how bacteria and
viruses can spread from person to person
across different surfaces is growing.”

Cut carbon emissions with
Atlanta's fat pack letter trays
Atlanta Offce Products has brought
the fat-pack principle to stackable
letter trays and in the process reduced
the carbon footprint of such products
by 65%.
The Trayformer folds fat for
transportation and can be re-assembled
by the customer in seconds. Atlanta
claims that a standard pallet can
accommodate 1,000 Trayformers but
just 324 standard letter trays, potentially
reducing the number of truck journeys
by two thirds.
A further beneft of Trayformer
is its use of recycled materials: solid
colour trays are made from 100% post
consumer recycled polystyrene; other
colours are 100% recyclable.
Other green products from
Atlanta Offce Products include the
Atlanta Green range of recycled and
compostable desk accessories and
personal fling products; and the
