Pen To Paper - Spring 2020
“The world is waking up to the need to use resources more wisely and recycle as much as possible in order to limit the impact that modern society has on the planet,” Rouillard said. “With such a keen focus on the environment and climate change, it is unsurprising that the market for sustainable office products is strong.” For over 40 years, Exacompta Clairefontaine has been integrating ecology and sustainable development into its corporate strategy. The company aims to be responsible corporate citizens by using, wherever possible, only certified and environmentally accredited materials to manufacture its products. This includes the full range of filing products, from desktop storage and document wallets to bins, magazine files and pen pots, as well as notebooks and pads. Sixty per cent of the group’s products are now made from certified materials (card, board, paper and even polypropylene) and 40% of its ranges have the FSC or PEFC certifications for virgin paper fibre or the Blue Angel certification for products made from recycled materials (either paper waste or post-consumer plastic). Blue Angel certified “The Forever Blue Angel certified range is a case in point, with sales up significantly in 2019 and projections for 2020 set to build on this to 20-30%,” Rouillard said. “The range, which will be one of our key focuses in 2020, is made entirely from post-consumer waste.” With Forever, Exacompta offers a complete range of filing products made of recycled polypropylene or recycled paper and cardboard. The range includes ring binders, lever arch files, dividers, display books, multipart files, archiving boxes and desktop accessories such as pen pots, magazine files and desktop drawers. Certified by the Blue Angel label, which guarantees their ecological quality, the products are made exclusively from post-consumer recycled raw materials and components selected according to strict criteria for the protection of health, the environment and safety. Forever recycled paper products offer excellent archiving quality, in accordance with DIN 6738, while Forever recycled PP products are made from genuine post-consumer plastic waste such as drinks bottles and white goods appliances. Recycled notebooks The range has been complemented this year by the addition of premium fully Blue Angel certified 90gsm recycled notebooks. “We have noticed over the last few years that many customers are no longer willing to accept that recycled paper has to mean their books and pads are filled with thin, grey and poor quality paper. There is now an understanding that you do not need to compromise on colour, quality and writing experience when using recycled paper – and rightly so,” Rouillard explained. He added: “Also, in the past, premium pricing has been associated with the production of recycled materials, which created a further push-back from the market.” Techniques and manufacturing processes have advanced to such an extent that it is now possible to produce recycled books and pads with similar quality paper to non-recycled paper, while maintaining an attractive price point. Forever notebooks and pads are available in A5 and A4 sizes, margin- lined, spiral-bound with 90 gsm premium, recycled paper. The range features a bright and attractive design that uses green tree designs in a nod to its environmental accreditations. “We know that consumers want to feel proud of their stationery within meetings, and believe this range helps to answer the uncompromising trend towards quality and design, as well as value and the environment,” Rouillard concluded. The Forever range is available in VOW, Spicers, Exertis, Lyreco, Staples, Office Depot and in retailers such as Ryman andWH Smith. www.exaclairlimited.com STATIONERY Stationery with sustainability at its core Clement Rouillard, Marketing Manager at ExaClair, says that 2020 will be the year of sustainability for the office supplies industry, with an even greater requirement to manufacture environmentally-conscious products P2P Magazine | 05 www.p2pmag.co.uk
