Founded in 2021, Algapelago is aiming to transform ocean farming into a scalable solution that can contribute to the restoration of marine ecosystems. In June, off the north coast of Devon, it will be deploying a rig developed by Arctic Seaweed to cultivate up to 40 tonnes of kelp a year and integrating blue mussels alongside sugar kelp to explore the synergy between these species in supporting marine ecosystems and enhancing carbon sequestration.
