The engineering company has acquired additional PaperCut MF licences to manage the growing print estate at its recently expanded site in Norwich, which now accommodates 500 users, 500 endpoints and 54 virtual machines hosted on 12 physical hosts. KLM UK Engineering provides maintenance for the Embraer 170/190, Boeing 737 All Series, Airbus A320 Family, BAe 146 & Avro RJ and the Fokker 70/100, with each aircraft check generating between 5,000 and 20,000 sheets of paper. KLM aims to cut these print volumes by 60% through a new Maintenance, Repairs and Operations (MRO) process scheduled to be introduced in 2025. The use of PaperCut MF gives KLM UK Engineering a head-start through the application of sustainable policies that reduce print volumes, saving on toner and paper. PaperCut MF also supports PaperCut’s tree-planting programme, PaperCut Grows, which ensures customers’ printing has a Forest Positive impact. In addition to its sustainability benefits, PaperCut MF helps improve efficiency and productivity on-site through a Find-Me printing function that provides users with the convenience of a single print queue and the ability to pick up prints from any printer with a simple ‘tap and release’ workflow. Before, because of the way engineers work, they would sometimes have to walk 250 metres to pick a print and then walk 250 metres back. As well as reducing the distances employees have to walk to pick up a print, PaperCut MF, through its support of mobile and BYOD printing, gives them the flexibility to print from their device of choice whether that be a Chromebook, Android, macOS, iOS or Windows device. MarkWalker, IT Manager at KLM UK Engineering, said: “PaperCut MF will play a key role in our long-term strategy to drive down print costs and volumes, while ensuring print is easy and secure for all our team members. As the airline industry emerges from the pandemic, PaperCut has shown that it can scale easily to our new needs as driven by our site expansion and evolving IT estate.” Steve Holmes, EMEA Regional Director and GM, PaperCut, added: “KLM UK Engineering Limited’s decision to increase its PaperCut MF licences reflects the benefits and value it has already realised from its investment. We’re excited that PaperCut MF is an intrinsic part of KLM UK Engineering Limited’s long-term strategy to bring its print volumes right down in a secure and sustainable way.” www.papercut.com Apogee strengthens ties with the Imps Apogee Corporation is strengthening its ties with Lincoln City Football Club by becoming a bronze sponsor of the men’s football team. The number of pages printed via Brother MPS contracts over the last three months has gone up by 13%, surpassing the previous record achieved in April 2022, following significant demand from the grocery and healthcare sectors, notably GP surgeries and pharmacies. The increase in MPS page volumes is matched by a 25% rise in the number of devices used under an MPS contract, compared to the same quarter last year. Brother’s record MPS performance follows the launch earlier this year of its new print subscription service for SMEs, PrintSmart Essential. This allows firms to pay a small monthly fee for their ink and toner supplies, device installation, supplies recycling and maintenance services, with the flexibility of a three-month notice period. Greig Millar, General Manager for Sales, Services and Solutions at Brother UK, said: “We attribute our success, particularly when it comes to MPS, to providing more bespoke assessments and offering tailored solutions based entirely on extensive conversations with businesses. Getting under the skin of how they operate and identifying hidden pinch points is crucial, and our latest figures prove that it pays dividends.” He added: “We’re helping to make MPS more accessible with the launch of low-cost options like PrintSmart Essential that’s specifically designed to support small businesses with lower volume requirements, which is a key area of growth. This is alongside continually evolving our portfolio of devices to support the modern world of work.” www.brother.co.uk Photo: Chris Vaughan, Lincoln City Photo: Monty Rakusen
