The two organisations will collect unwanted computers, laptops, printers, mobile phones, tablets and other devices from customer sites for recycling or refurbishment – 70% of systems, hardware and devices processed by Byteback are reused by disadvantaged groups in the UK or exported for re-use in developing countries. According to recent analysis by Uswitch, the UK is the world’s second highest producer of electronic waste per capita, just behind Norway, and is on course to become the largest contributor as early as 2024. The Castle Donington-based MSP was co-founded by Tim Rookes and Neil Shaw in 2017, with a commitment to put customer service excellence ahead of sales and profit. This has proved to be a winning strategy, producing consistent year-on-year growth of around 50% and ensuring that 95% of new clients are won through direct referrals. Rookes said: “Signing our hundredth client was a huge milestone for us. It really is a dream come true. And to have smashed our turnover record yet again – reaching a level that is way ahead of anything we envisaged six years ago – shows our focus on clients rather than money was definitely the right thing to do.” Shaw adds that True MSP’s recent successes have taken it half-way to a target that the founders have no intention of exceeding. “We need to ensure we retain our personal touch and carry on being a genuine extension to our clients’ businesses. We never want to be a really huge MSP. Our plan is to double in size to 200 clients so that we can maintain our agile businesses while still being approachable,” he said. www.truemsp.co.uk Neil Shaw (left) and Tim Rookes of True MSP
