01732 759725 06 INNOVATIONS Zero carbon Sustainability certification body Planet Mark is introducing a suite of Zero Carbon initiatives to demystify the concept of net zero carbon emissions and help businesses achieve their goals. These include a free 3-hour workshop on net zero, which organisations can take to the next stage by becoming Planet Mark members. Doing so will enable them to access additional services, including assistance in putting together a Planet Mark Net Zero Action Plan and implementing a ZeroBy30 programme. The latter typically involves a minimum 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 direct emissions and Scope 3 indirect emissions, with the balance neutralised through carbon replacement initiatives. www.planetmark.com Tilt and charge Forté from Twelve South is a new desktop charging stand made exclusively for the iPhone 12 and wireless Apple MagSafe Charger. Snapping on an Apple MagSafe Charger (not included) enables Forté to hold the iPhone 12 vertically or horizontally while it charges. The platform can be tilted by up to 70 degrees to achieve the perfect angle for using the device or it can be positioned completely flat, providing a platform for charging AirPods. Forté is available exclusively from Apple.com for £39.95. Track and locate With the launch of Snom’s beacon technology, organisations can integrate asset tracking and location capabilities into their existing telecommunications infrastructure. Snom M9B beacon gateways act as compact receivers that can register devices at close-range (1-15m) via Bluetooth or tags and send details to the closest M900 base station via an encrypted DECT data connection. This information can be used to trigger an alarm or show a tag’s location on a phone display. Snom says the technology has applications in numerous environments for tracking goods, equipment and people, including hospitals/care homes, warehouses, construction sites, offices, shops, museums and hotels. Snom experts are available to help channel partners with projects, from initial idea to completion. www.snom.com Covid-safe templates Laserfiche is helping organisations prepare for the future of work with the launch of a Digital Reopening package containing pre-built templates for business process automation. The new offering, which will be rolled out in three phases, is an extension of the company’s existing collection of more than 100 configurable process diagram and workflow templates. The first tranche of Digital Reopening templates includes daily employee symptom reports; work from home experience surveys; inventory tracking and equipment requests; return to work questionnaires; and Covid-19 time-off requests. www.laserfiche.com Future-proof data centre In line with a commitment to work towards zero carbon data centres, Ark Data Centres has designed its new Longcross facility (coming onstream in 2023) to minimise carbon emissions and reduce waste and water consumption. Back-up generators will be gas-powered, rather than diesel- powered, which will have an immediate impact on Nitrogen oxide (NOx) levels. They will also be hydrogen-ready so that when it is eventually possible to use 100% hydrogen, they will produce only energy, heat and water vapour, with no CO2 or harmful emissions. Other green features include air cooling for a low PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) rating and ‘living walls’ to absorb CO2. The Longcross Park data centre, located in Chertsey, is one of four new Ark facilities in the London area. https://arkdatacentres.co.uk/ Printers for home workers Brother has launched a series of four business-grade inkjet devices for people who work remotely some or all of the time. According to Gartner, this group will include 51% of all knowledge workers by the end of 2021, up from 27% in 2019. The A4 Mini Business series includes three mid-range models, featuring wireless connectivity, automatic two- sided printing, speeds of up to 20 inches per minute and optional high-capacity ink cartridges (6,000 pages black and 5,000 pages colour). The flagship MFC-J4540DW also includes a 6.8 cm LCD touchscreen display with NFC technology for contactless ID pull print and a 400-page paper input. All new models work with the Brother Mobile Connect app, which allows users to send a file to print from anywhere, share scanned documents, monitor ink levels and order replacement supplies. https://www.brother.co.uk
