Technology Reseller - v13 2018
technolog y reseller.co.uk 13 NEWS : DISTRIBUTORS Doing well, but could do better The Nimans Major Accounts division has seen a 48% increase in business this year, but warns that channel partners are still missing out on sales opportunities. Business unit head Colin McGregor said: “Partners are still leaving 20-30% of revenue of a UC implementation on the table in terms of headsets and other devices, which, for me, is the final and most important part of the chain in terms of audio performance. “Millions of pounds can be spent on systems and infrastructure but if a cheap headset is used it undermines everything else. It’s one of the biggest surprises I’ve seen. Not only are resellers allowing their customers to buy online, worse still their competitors can come in and quote on headsets and then get their feet under the table for everything else.” www.nimans.net Exertis to distribute high-end Epson projectors Exertis has been selected to distribute Epson’s range of high end installation and laser projectors for which it can also provide professional installation services. Chris Godsalve, Exertis Medium Projector Business Manager, said: “Having access to the Epson Pro Display laser and installation product portfolio presents a great opportunity for our resellers. No matter what vertical market they are selling into, Epson’s projectors offer many advantages over flat panel and competitor solutions. Whether they are being installed in boardrooms, university lecture theatres, classrooms, shopping centres, sporting arenas or concert venues, Epson’s professional display portfolio will suit any budget and cater for a growing range of market applications and opportunities.” www.exertis.co.uk Beta appoints new Head of AV Beta Distribution has appointed Mike Cunningham-Clayton as Head of its AV business. Formerly General Manager of Displays at Exertis, Cunningham-Clayton has over 24 years’ experience in the AV industry. Commenting on his new role, Cunningham-Clayton said: “The role at Beta is both challenging and exciting: the challenge is to secure a position in a competitive market; the excitement lies in the fact that we do have something that truly differentiates us as a distributor.” This includes a collaborative approach to reseller relationships, e.g. a dedicated account manager for each customer, and a comprehensive services portfolio that will help resellers and integrators profit from the growing demand for digital signage. Cunningham-Clayton added: “Beta is in the unique position of being able to offer Samsung LFD products supported by a wide range of complementary services, including installation, maintenance services and content creation. It’s all done by our own inhouse team and it means all our resellers can offer this full service package to their clients.” https://av.betadistribution.com/ VOW adds 500 lines VOW Wholesale has made 500 additional product lines available to its reseller customers and plans to add hundreds more over the next few weeks. The new lines were previously only available to retailers, but following the migration of the VOW Retail inventory to its Arrow Distribution Centre in Leicestershire earlier this year, VOW Wholesale can now offer them to resellers as well. New lines include VOW Wholesale’s Go Secure brand of packaging, boxes, bubble rolls, tapes and mailing accessories; the Tiger range of value stationery, filing, storage, writing and school essentials; Helix school essential sets and flexi-rules; and travel products, including adaptors and mobile access goods. www.voweurope.com One day, three clubs, 72 holes Gavin Elly from the Nimans Solutions Support team and 11 members of the Alderley Edge Golf Club have raised more than £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by playing 72 holes at three different golf courses in a 16.5-hour golfing marathon. Elly said: “We teed off at Alderley Edge around 4.30am; moving on to Mottram Hall for 8.50am; over to Styal Golf Club for 13.20; and returning to Alderley at 17.50 to complete the challenge at 9pm. It was a great day and hard work in scorching temperatures, but we easily surpassed our fundraising expectations.” www.nimans.net Exertis adds Norton Security to EDSR Exertis has added Norton Security products to the Exertis Digital Stock Room (EDSR), which provides retailers with a digital catalogue that can be plugged into existing websites and used online or in-store. The Exertis ZStorm EDSR is enjoying significant growth both in sales and reach, with the number of retailers using the service now exceeding 900. Smaller stores that don’t yet have an e-commerce presence can make use of ‘redemption’ sites provided by Exertis Ztorm, from which customers purchase keys to unlock and download titles. Alternatively, they can provide an online service in-store, providing kiosks where customers can browse items and then go to the till to make a payment and receive the download codes. Alex Croft, Exertis Sales and Commercial Director, said: “Online and digital sales are an essential part of any retail strategy and are now accounting for a growing proportion of all software sales. EDSR enables retailers to avoid the risks of financial exposure that can come with holding physical stock whilst allowing them to offer instant access to a wide range of titles from leading content providers from both the gaming and business world. Norton Security is a great addition to this offer.” Retailers that add Norton Security products to their range will be provided with a counter display unit and tailored point of sale kit free of charge, in addition to online digital marketing content. www.enta.net Colin McGregor Mike Cunningham-Clayton
