Technology Reseller v11
01732 759725 08 NEWS : DISTRIBUTORS High level of interest for tech-as-a-service scheme Tech Data’s business development team reports high levels of interest in its tech-as-a-service scheme, created to provide a simple way for resellers to offer hardware, software and services to customers on a subscription basis with no need for up-front capital investment. Launched in November 2017, Tech- as-a-Service covers the entire solution lifecycle – acquisition, deployment, management and end-of-life recycling – under a single agreement with flexible payment options. In addition to Tech Data solutions, it can cover resellers’ own services, such as installation, training, maintenance and support. Commenting on the early success of the proposition, Matt Child, Tech Data Managing Director Endpoint Solutions UK and Ireland, said: “We have come out of the blocks really fast with Tech- as-a-Service. We created it to meet the growing enthusiasm amongst IT buyers for subscription-based consumption. We could see the opportunity to extend that model to hardware and, further to that, to bring all IT solutions and services together into one complete offering. We’re pleased to say that we have received an overwhelmingly positive response, with several important pieces of business secured already and more prospective deals in the pipeline. http://trustedadvisor.techdata.co.uk/ why-tech-data/tech-data-optimise Tech Data to distribute Quest Software Tech Data Advanced Solutions has entered into a distribution agreement with Quest Software, giving resellers access to the latter’s full range of data protection, endpoint and infrastructure management, identity and access control solutions. Tech Data believes Quest’s range of migration, security and management solutions for Microsoft platforms will be of particular interest to VARs and solutions providers. Peter Spreadbury, Director, Enterprise Software at Tech Data Advanced Solutions, said: “We see very significant opportunities for our partners with the entire range and some specific and immediate potential around the migration of Microsoft applications to new infrastructures. We aim to extend awareness of the potential the entire Quest family offers and will be collaborating with our colleagues in Tech Data’s Microsoft team to make partners aware of the migration opportunities.” Quest’s migration, security and management solutions for Microsoft platforms support on-premise, cloud- based and hybrid environments, enabling fast and safe automation of tasks and simplified migration for Active Directory, Exchange, Skype for Business, Azure AD and Office 365. Fast growing Value Added Distributor Nuvias has opened a 13,504 sq. ft. EMEA HQ in Woking, Surrey. CEO Paul Eccleston said: “The new EMEA HQ in Woking is part of our ongoing plans for growth and increased EMEA reach. It will be a focal point for EMEA- wide activities and a centre for training and development, as well as a location for hosting strategic meetings with our customers and vendor partners.” Nuvias was founded in 2015 to address three main areas: Cyber Security (formerly Wick Hill); Advanced Networking (formerly Zycko) and Unified Communications (formerly SIPHON). In July 2017, it added Benelux value added distributor and security specialist DCB to the Group. Eccleston said: “We created Nuvias because the channel needed a new kind of EMEA distributor to deal with the increasingly complex and diverse needs of the IT customer; the growth in demand for new technologies and emerging disruptive vendors; and the shift in how IT is consumed and provisioned. We’ve been working hard to help partners capitalise on the new opportunities presented by these changes.” Since it was founded, Nuvias has added new vendor partners, such as Juniper Networks, Nokia, Malwarebytes, HID Global and BlueJeans, and extended the geographical scope of existing agreements with companies like Riverbed, Lifesize, ProLabs, Broadsoft, Polycom, AudioCodes, Oracle, Panasonic, Snom, VASCO, WatchGuard, Barracuda, Tintri and Kemp. At the end of April, it announced a pan-European agreement with intelligence- led security company FireEye. As part of the agreement, Nuvias will be introducing NU:RAP for FireEye, a dedicated Rapid Acceleration Programme for new and existing partners to achieve growth and high-value returns. In its last financial year, Nuvias increased turnover by 13.1% to more than $500 million. The company’s Unified Communications Practice grew by 18%, while the Advanced Networking and Cyber Security Practices both achieved 12% sales growth. Since its foundation, Nuvias has opened new offices in Austria, Switzerland and South Africa and upgraded regional hub locations in Dubai, Germany and France. In total, it has 21 regional offices across EMEA. www.nuvias.com New EMEA Headquarters for Nuvias Entanet launches ISDN replacement service Wholesale voice and data communications provider Entanet has introduced an ISDN replacement service ahead of the 2025 ISDN withdrawal deadline. The new product combines Entanet’s Hosted Voice and SIP service with 500Mbps GPON connectivity to create a scalable, fully hosted telephony system. Where a customer seeks to retain an on-premise PBX, the service provides 30 free SIP channels. Alternatively, for customers requiring complete disaster recovery through a fully hosted solution, it includes 20 free hosted voice seats. Paul Heritage-Redpath, Entanet’s Head of Products, said: “The ISDN withdrawal represents a huge opportunity for channel partners to educate their customers on the benefits of SIP and hosted voice and get ahead of the competition. By providing the service over GPON, customers will have huge capacity for data, as well as voice calls, and the ability to implement a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy.” www.enta.net Jacqueline de Rojas, CBE, President of Tech UK and Chair, Digital Leaders, cuts the ribbon at Nuvias’ new EMEA HQ, accompanied by CEO Paul Eccleston Matt Child
