30 PRINT.IT 01732 759725 WHAT’S NEW what’s new The MX-2630N is the entry-level model in Sharp’s 14-strong series of A3 colour MFPs. Like others in the range, it features a customisable user interface, accessed via a colour touchscreen, and easy integration with existing workflows and cloud applications like BOX, SharePoint and Microsoft OneDrive. Another useful feature is integrated pull printing that enables secure printing from any networked MFP without the need for a dedicated server. Security can be enhanced further with Sharp’s optional embedded security solution (see page 5). www.sharp.co.uk Surface Pro lock Kensington has launched the Kensington Keyed Cable Lock for Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4. The non-invasive locking technology enables users to secure Surface Pro devices without the need for any product modifications. www.kensington.com Labelled with love Strange but true: the use of multiple labels on a parcel evokes positive emotions in the recipient and enhances customer loyalty. Research by Avery UK shows that having more than one label on a package can increase feelings of love for a brand by as much as 129%, the perception of quality by 116%, purchasing intent by 113% and word of mouth recommendation by 135%. Additional labels could include a return address label, a special message label (e.g. ‘open me’) or a label with the company logo. www.avery.co.uk A sound idea The HP Amp with built- in Bluetooth speakers brings a new dimension to multifunctionality. Designed to save space in homes and home offices, it combines the best features of a Bluetooth portable speaker, desktop speakerphone and multifunction printer. There is even a convenient USB port for charging portable devices. The accompanying HP Smart app lets you scan to and print from a smartphone, stream your favourite music, take calls on the printer and order replacement ink. The only bum note is there are no plans to launch it in the UK. www.hp.com Pay-as-you-go print Epson has introduced a pay- as-you-go ink replenishment service with no monthly subscription fees. Called ReadyInk, it monitors the customer’s ink usage and automatically supplies a new cartridge before their existing one runs out. www.epson.co.uk Wireless charging base The sleek, portable PNY QI wireless charging base offers rapid charging of QI-compatible devices, including the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. Simply place the device on the base and the induction interaction will start charging it immediately. The base comes with a Micro- USB cable and 2-year warranty. www.pny.eu Secure MFP Safety first Apricorn’s software-free USB drive helps organisations in the most regulated industries (e.g. banking, government, education, legal and healthcare) demonstrate that they take data security seriously. Available in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB sizes, the programmable Aegis Secure Key 3z flash drive includes military-grade encryption and eliminates the vulnerabilities found in software-managed systems. One particularly useful feature is the Aegis Configurator software, which allows multiple devices to be configured and deployed simultaneously. Prices start at £65. www.apricorn.com Rent generation Perfect Colours has introduced a three-year rental option for its large format printing solutions.
