The fast growing document and mail management company has ordered 85 units, one for its headquarters in Wellington, Somerset and 84 for its production sites in Bristol and Warrington where they are already producing around 14 million impressions per month. The three-year deal worth around £5 million was negotiated over a 15-month period by experts from the UK, Europe and Canon’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The Canon imagePRESS C850 was launched in September 2016 in response to customer requests for higher quality and flexible production presses. Its ability to switch automatically from simplex to duplex, known as super-plex printing, whilst retaining order integrity, along with class leading productivity, was a deciding factor in Synertec’s decision. So, too, was the expertise and responsiveness of Canon’s sales, service and business development teams. Mark Baldock, managing director of Synertec, said: “Canon came out top in every set of criteria and we’ve been delighted with how this partnership has progressed. The speed of response, knowledge and professionalism of the teams has been outstanding.” He added: “Our rapid growth created the need to re-evaluate our print offering. We needed to expand capacity and invest wisely. The Canon systems give us massive increases in productivity, improved efficiencies and more throughput. This investment is a major step forward for us. The deal has opened new doors to develop business opportunities and increase print volumes. We are already seeing time-savings of up to three hours a day.” Synertec specialises in outsourced communications, including the printing, folding and mailing of hard copy communications and the electronic distribution of time-critical correspondence. It has more than 500 public and private sector clients and an annual growth rate of 20%. Duncan Smith, director of industrial and production solutions at Canon UK, said: “Synertec is a perfect example of Canon’s collaborative approach to working with customers, enabling them to uncover gains in efficiency and productivity to ultimately improve their margins and make the most of their equipment.” He added: “There’s a world of opportunity within printing for our customers and their feedback is vital in helping us to develop new solutions. We’ve learned a significant amount from working closely with Synertec, as their customers require personalised content, short print runs, just-in-time print delivery and greater cost-effectiveness.” Synertec increases print capacity to support rapid growth in outsourced print and mail production Record deal for Canon
