01732 759725 50 AND FINALLY Henning Volkmer, CEO, ThinPrint Inc. 60 seconds with… What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business? The immediate impact of 22 months of world events aside, the greatest impact comes from the rapidly accelerating digital transformation. Our clients need to revamp and redesign processes to be more digital without losing touch with the physical world. Where do you see the next big opportunity? Part of that is the modern workplace and the redesigned, refined ways we office people work and will work. Another big part is supporting the essential workforce, those who work with people in hospitals, warehouses, retail, to ensure their digital processes easily connect with their customers through printed documents. What would make your day job easier? I would be grateful if adding more amazing co-workers to our existing team was easier. We have plenty of plans, ideas, visions, and customers looking for these, but we need more hands to code, test, make calls and take care of our customers. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again if you believe in your plan and make sure never to lose sight of what your customers expect from you, and don’t be afraid to adjust your goal no matter how great it seemed at first. What was your first job? I built a very mediocre Microsoft Access database for a real estate company in the 90s. I am sure it’s long been replaced. What would be your dream job? I love what I do, and I love technology. If I had to change jobs, I’d love a chance to bounce around and try all kinds of different things. Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? Either, let’s toss a coin when we’re hungry. It’ll be tasty and fun. Favourite holiday destination? Somewhere where a friend lives or any major metropolis in the world with plenty of money for local food and drinks in tow. How do you like to spend your spare time? With friends, traveling, exploring new places and new restaurants and food, museums or good books. It’s a bit of a moving target these days, but it’s never dull. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it? In the absence of environmental issues, a dark blue Mercedes-Benz SL600 with the top down on Pacific Coast Highway. In reality, I’ll go with whatever the rental car agency offers on the rare occasions I need or want a car. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? There’s probably an occasion or two where I should have listened to advice, but that’s all part of the experience. Overall I don’t have many complaints, and our team is still delivering great solutions to our customers. Describe your most embarrassing moment. Once, I didn’t pay attention and signed off on a newsletter that included wording that was not entirely favourable towards one of our partners, who was also on the recipient list. There was some damage control to be done. Henning Volkmer
