PRINT IT RESELLER.UK 7 BULLETIN Charity golf day a massive success Midshire’s inaugural charity golf day was a huge success. The event which had 60 suppliers, customers and associates in attendance, raised £6,000, split equally between NK Theatre Arts and the British Heart Foundation (BHF). Natalie Bunyan, BHF’s Fundraising Manager for the North West said: “The day was fantastic. Whenever Midshire hold an event for charity they put their all into it. They’ve raised over £7,000 for us over the last 12 months alone, it’s really quite amazing. These funds will go towards more life-changing research carried out by the BHF, thank you to everyone involved!” www.midshire.co.uk Carbon neutral printing Witham-based managed services provider EBM is launching a new Green Print Programme to help clients deal with their environmental responsibilities. The programme comprises two elements, the company will ensure the recycling/ ethical disposal of used inks, toners and consumable parts and additionally, EBM will undertake an annual calculation of the carbon emissions from printers at client sites, which they will then offset in a verified project of the client’s choosing. “The printer industry isn’t renowned for its environmental conscience,” said Non- Executive Director Richard Tytherleigh. “But if you take a closer look, some real progress is being made at manufacturer level. At EBM we want to pass this on to our clients.” The scheme is free of charge to the firm’s managed print clients, who will be provided with documentation detailing the difference their participation in the Green Print Programme has made. www.ebmltd.co.uk Commercial signs up to clean van commitment Commercial has signed up to the Clean Van Commitment – a public pledge to move to zero emission vans in cities by 2028. The Clean Van Commitment is coordinated by Global Action Plan, a charity that works for a green and thriving planet and helps people live more sustainable lifestyles. The charity is behind Clean Air Day, the UK’s largest air pollution campaign, it works with young people to reduce consumerism and increase wellbeing, and it brings business and young people together to work on a more sustainable future. Commercial has been taking positive action to reduce emissions for nearly 12 years. During that time it has achieved significant reduction in its carbon footprint, adopting sustainable working practices including the introduction of a hydrogen-fuelled fleet and the use of renewable energy. The business has moved from 73 tonnes of CO2/£million turnover in 2006 to 20 tonnes of CO2/£million turnover in 2018. This means that for every £1 million of turnover gained in 2017 it emitted 73% less carbon compared to 2006. “We are delighted to sign up to the Clean Van Commitment,” says Simone Hindmarch, Commercial Co-Founder and Managing Director. “It is part of our continuous improvement in sustainability, and our commitment to taking ongoing, meaningful action.” www.commercial.co.uk £1,000 raised for Mind A charity football match between teams from two Midlands-based businesses has raised over £1,000 for mental health charity Mind.
