01732 759725 50 AND FINALLY Michael Coulson , Managing Director and Founder, ManagedPrintCompare.com 60 seconds with… What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business? I’d have to say automation, as we are developing our MPC platform from scratch, we can change as we see fit and have thus automated a lot of our processes for ourselves, our clients and our suppliers. The time saving and convenience is freeing up all aspects of the business. Where do you see the next big opportunity? I think data is the next big frontier which gives every business a unique opportunity. If you are not currently monitoring everything you can within your organisation, you may well miss opportunities to improve processes, which could ultimately have a large positive knock-on effect to your business. Taking advantage of data in these situations is integral to running a lean, functional business like ours. What would make your day job easier? Being able to click my fingers and be at my next meeting! What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard. It’s so true and has been a cornerstone of ManagedPrintCompare.com’s approach to its market so far. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? No, simply because without the journey you do not learn the lessons to get to where you need to be. Experience counts for a lot and I’m glad I’ve had the ones I’ve had as it has meant I can approach new situations with a balanced view. Describe your most embarrassing moment. I’m not really one for being embarrassed, if something has happened, it’s usually for a reason. There’s no shame in making mistakes after all! What was your first job? I worked for a short time as a fish packer in my native Grimsby. What would be your dream job? I’m where I want to be, so honestly, CEO of ManagedPrintCompare.com Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? I love a curry, but a nice steak and a glass of red wine wins. How do you like to spend your spare time? With family and friends, time is a luxury you cannot buy so you need to use it wisely. Favourite holiday destination? I’d have to say Croatia, it’s a beautiful place. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it? I’d go for a large motorhome to drive around Europe and the rest of the world with my family, exploring and creating memories.
