Under the terms of the scheme eligible SME businesses can receive a gigabit voucher worth up to £3,000 to upgrade their business broadband to a fast and reliable connection over gigabit capable infrastructure. To supply gigabit speeds, a full fibre connection is required, rather than conventional copper wires. The government funded voucher of up to £3,000 will allow Spitfire to provide successful business applicants with the necessary fibre connection to their premises. Business voucher applicants can increase the value of the grant by applying with other businesses in their location. The California-based company is growing so fast in the UK that it plans to increase its headcount in the next year and has moved to a substantial new office in London. www.zoom.us M-Files secures European financing The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a EUR 27 million financing agreement with Finnish software company M-Files. The loan was made possible by the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), central pillar of the Investment Plan for Europe, which was launched by the EIB Group and the European Commission to boost the competitiveness of the European economy. This operation is the EIB’s largest commitment in the Finnish IT sector for years. With these funds, the rapidly growing company aims to revolutionise the way organisations manage and use information, making it more intelligent, intuitive and compliant. M-Files will use the financing for international growth, partner channel expansion and accelerating R&D in Europe.
