01732 759725 BULLETIN Annual UK service award winner Matt Sykes of Wakefield-based Arena Group has been named the winner of Kyocera’s annual UK Service Trophy. Andrew Dale from ASL Group took second place and third place went to Paul Ripper, making it two Arena Group engineers in the top three. Sykes beat Kyocera trained service engineers from across the UK to take home this year’s award, after coming out on top of a series of tasks held at the OEM’s UK head office in Reading. This is the second year he has entered the competition, having come third last year, and he walks away with a £500 prize and the title of Kyocera Service Engineer of the Year. It says that UK businesses alone could cut their electricity bills by almost e 33 million. Epson bases its calculations on the fact that its business inkjet printers consume up to 96% less energy than comparable laser devices and produce up to 99% less waste thanks to long-lasting consumables, including high capacity ink bottles and RIPS ink sacks. www.epson.co.uk Sharp employee saddles up for charity Sharp employee Julian Hodges has raised over £32,000 for charity, completing the ‘Blazing Saddles’ cycling challenge from Oldham to the Rock of Gibraltar. With this fourth challenge spanning over 15 days in July, the team of 13 firefighters and friends rode almost 1,700 miles, and climbed a breath taking 100,000 feet to add the incredible amount to the £60,000 total from previous years. Averaging 115 miles per day, the gruelling inter-country ride saw the team cycle from Oldham to Portsmouth, then through the lush countryside of France, over the Pyrenees, across the hinterlands of Spain, and concluded with a welcome by the fire service and Governor in Gibraltar. Pushing their bodies to the limit, the cyclists raised the outstanding grand total for Cyclists Fighting Cancer, the Fire Fighter Charity, mental health organisation MIND and neonatal charity SANDS. www.sharp.co.uk Basware and Xerox partner in global deal Basware, a global player in networked source-to-pay solutions, e-invoicing and innovative financing services, has selected Xerox to operate its scan and capture operations across 28+ countries. The awards honour employers in the UK that have created outstanding training and skills development programmes, which have directly resulted in commercial gains. The Princess Royal Training Awards, delivered by the City & Guilds Group, are now in their third year. Each of the 90 applications were assessed against three Hallmarks of Excellence by the Princess Royal Training Awards Commission.
