01732 759725 50 What would make your day job easier? If everyone I called was looking for a photocopier, that would definitely make things easier! But then again, the challenge of convincing someone who isn’t sure, is part of what makes it rewarding when they finally say yes. Which company do you most admire outside of our industry? Tesla, for sure. I think their focus on pushing tech forward and being sustainable is really impressive. Plus, they’re always looking for ways to improve, which I think is something every business can learn from. What excites you most about the future? Seeing how far I’ve come in just one year at Commerce Business Systems, I’m really excited about where I could go next. Watching what the people above me do, and how they succeed, gives me something to aim for - especially how they build strong relationships with customers. I know if I keep learning and putting in the work, there are loads of opportunities for me to grow and take on bigger roles. That’s what keeps me going, knowing there’s so much potential ahead for me. quickly things are always changing. There’s always something new to figure out, especially with print tech getting more environmentally friendly and now connects to more digital business systems. I see that as a challenge and really interesting. What do you most enjoy about your job? The uncapped earnings are a huge motivator for me - it makes me want to push harder and beat my own goals each month. The start of a new month makes me keen to see what I can do next. The pressure is always there, but I actually like it because it keeps me focused. Plus, I like the variety – some days I’m in the office making calls, and other days I’m out with my sales director meeting clients. It’s never the same day twice, and that’s what makes it interesting. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? At the Academy I always remember being told that ‘sales is a numbers game’. I’ve learned that the more people I talk to, the better my chances of making a sale. It doesn’t always go the way I want, but I know that every ‘no’ gets me closer to a ‘yes’. That advice has helped me stay positive and motivated, even when I’ve had a rough day. It’s all about sticking with it. When did you first join the print sector and what attracted you? I joined the print sector just under a year ago through the CBS Academy.
