50 RISING STAR Andrew Paczy-Smith, Product Manager, Exertis IT 60 seconds with… When did you first join the print sector and what attracted you? I joined in February 2023. I think the attraction is the variation of paths you can take once in the industry and of course the hope of being really successful with all of the benefits that come with that. What do you enjoy most about your job? I love many parts of my job. The customers, the people and the variation of tasks on any given day. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? I would say to just be yourself and be personable. It’s always a benefit to yourself and others if you are liked as a person first. What would make your day job easier? I think this is probably a common answer, but more hours in the day and faster work systems. Which company do you most admire outside of our industry? It has to be Apple. The way they have monopolised the mobile industry with such user-friendly products is impressive. It just sells itself. What excites you most about the future? I am excited for the possibilities this industry opens for you. I am looking forward to continuing my development within the industry and to achieve as much as possible! Twitter or X as it’s now called. It’s great for funny videos, differing opinions and keeping up with the latest sports news. One screen, two or more? Three screens! Once you get used to three, you can’t work on any less. Favourite quote / motto? Believe you can and you’re halfway there. Last film you watched? Dune 2. It was just as good as the first and has inspired me to purchase the books. How do you like to spend your spare time? I love playing and watching football. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.
