51 PRINTITRESELLER.UK 27 WHAT'S NEW Canon expands office portfolio Canon has expanded its office portfolio with the addition of six new A4 devices. The refreshed i-SENSYS & i-SENSYS X printers include improved features such as faster scan speeds, lower energy consumption, easier-to-use interfaces and enhanced security features, as well as compatibility with uniFLOW Online, allowing organisations to manage their entire print environment through the cloud. The new devices have the latest firmware pre-installed to enhance document security, while future firmware updates will be available to automatically download – improving organisations’ defences against potential security threats. Workspace Portfolio Marketing Manager Richard Stewart said: “This new range fits perfectly into our comprehensive portfolio – offering our customers devices which are market leading and energy efficient. With high performance speeds, strong security credentials and premium quality the i-SENSYS and i-SENSYS X models empower businesses to make their operations smarter.” www.canon.co.uk High availability printing The new ThinPrint LPD Service ensures high availability printing, including load balancing from ERP, EMR and CRM systems, providing an important tool for preventing business-critical outages. ThinPrint’s own feature-enhanced LPD service bridges the ERP/EMR solutions and the printers, as ThinPrint combines its high availability technology with a network load balancer. The network load balancer is used by the backend system instead of the physical node (print server) to address the printer queues, and ThinPrint’s own LPD service then takes on these print jobs. The server, spooler, and all dependent services are continuously monitored for their operability. If an error occurs, print jobs are processed by another functioning service. The ThinPrint Client can also be designed for high availability to avoid a single point of failure. “For companies that use ERP, EMR or CRM systems, fail-safe printing systems are vital. We are therefore even more pleased that we can now offer these customers a highly available, elegant and powerful solution with the ThinPrint LPD Service,” said Charlotte Künzell, CEO of ThinPrint GmbH. “The ThinPrint LPD Service was a missing piece of the enterprise printing puzzle and is a feature-rich addition to our ThinPrint universe.” www.thinprint.com Plug-and-play switch Tailor-made to meet the needs of homes and small businesses, the XMG-100 series of 2.5GbE user-friendly, plug-and-play unmanaged switches from Zyxel Networks are designed to provide high throughput and high powered Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support for multiple devices. Link Checker is a manual URL-checking tool that enables users to examine a website’s safety before visiting by scanning it for different types of malware and getting a notification about whether it is fake or ridden with phishing scams. To collect information about malicious websites, Link Checker employs NordVPN’s own machine learning model, which was created to recognise zero-day phishing patterns planted within websites. In addition, this proprietary model uses Nord’s Intelligence Database to identify bogus websites that intend to lure users into phishing scams. https:// nordvpn.com continued...
