21 www.managedITmag.co.uk COPILOT OryxAlign, a leading IT managed services provider (MSP), has piloted a series of three workshops designed to prepare clients for the roll-out of Microsoft Copilot across their businesses. It held its first workshop on how to protect sensitive company data from AI systems at its London headquarters at the end of May. Justin Rutherford, chief technical officer at OryxAlign, said: “While the world has been quick to embrace and start using freely available generative AI tools like ChatGPT, what most users probably aren’t aware of is that entering sensitive company information into these tools can be used to train the AI models and could increase the cybersecurity risk companies face. We’re launching these workshops to help companies embrace AI safely. “Many attendees were surprised by the amount of preparation necessary before launching Microsoft Copilot and our sessions provided a framework for them to start thinking about what’s needed.” Freshwave, working with network infrastructure vendor CommScope, is heralding a new era of in-building mobile connectivity by becoming the first company to offer 4G (and soon 5G) from all four UK mobile network operators – EE, Vodafone UK, Virgin Media O2 and Three UK – in a combined small cell box. In-building mobile systems are needed because in many buildings the macro signal is blocked by materials such as thick concrete walls and energy-efficient glass. Small cells, which connect securely into MNO networks, guarantee quality of service, unlike some other OryxAlign launches Copilot workshops Four MNOs in one small cell box OryxAlign warns that if Windows Copilot is activated without the correct configurations, it could gain access to sensitive business data within applications and systems, including confidential communications, financial records and personal information, which could inadvertently be shared or misused. In addition, the MSP says that activating Copilot without adequate security measures can expose systems to cyber threats. For example, if data protection features are not enabled, the AI could be exploited by cyber attackers to access information or disrupt operations. Ensuring that Copilot is configured with enterprise-grade security settings, including vulnerability management and extended detection and response (XDR), can help to protect against these risks. Rutherford added: “We kept the workshops small and relaxed with a limited number of attendees, so everyone had an opportunity to ask questions and raise queries. connectivity technologies that rely on an outdoor signal. By delivering all four mobile network operators in one vendoragnostic box, the Freshwave Omni Network needs less equipment and cabling than alternative in-building solutions (a maximum of four units in a comms room rack) and is therefore faster and cheaper to install. Freshwave claims it is up to 65% cheaper than a traditional distributed antenna system (DAS) and uses up to 60% less energy, while also providing up to 32% more coverage than a low power DAS. Freshwave CEO Simon Frumkin said: “Omni Network extends inThis also allowed for a more personalised experience because each business will differ on the amount of time to prepare, given business priorities and their own capability and capacity to plan, implement, adopt, refine and continually improve.” He added: “Attendees were also keen to discuss the practical use of AI and the benefits it could bring to their businesses as well as how to build a business case that shows the value against investment.” www.oryxalign.com building mobile connectivity to a wider range of organisations than ever before thanks to our team’s technical innovation. As the only company in the UK able to offer Omni Network, we’re looking forward to the benefits it will bring to our customers across the public and private sector.
