The electronic receptionist
The iBell is a new generation of electronic
doorbell that has already gone down a storm on
crowdfunding site Kickstarter and is sure to be
of interest to homeworkers. TheWi-Fi-enabled
doorbell with HD camera links with smartphones,
laptops and tablets so you can see who is at the
front door and communicate with them whether
you are upstairs, in the garden or hundreds of
miles away. For homeworkers, it provides a great
way of screening visitors to keep interruptions to a
minimum. It also means that should an important
work-related delivery arrive when you are out or at
the office, you can ask the delivery person to leave
it with a neighbour. The i-Bell is compatible with
Android, Apple,Windows and Blackberry devices.
Breathe easily
People who live, sleep and work at
home spend a lot of time in the
same environment, so it makes
sense to keep the air as pure as
possible. This can be done by
installing an air purifier. Swedish
company Blueair says that its
models, which remove practically
all contaminants from interior
air, including viruses, chemicals,
particles and dust, should be
viewed as essential white goods,
just like a refrigerator or vacuum
cleaner. It offers a range of
models, from the PRO series
designed for larger workspaces
to the stylish zazzy Blue series
perfect for use in the home.
WiFi Boost
Home workers who set up office in the far reaches of a house often struggle with weak
WiFi and unreliable communication with their broadband router. Sagemcom provides
a solution to this problem in the form of the Sagem
F@st Plug 502W, a small communication device that
uses Powerline technology to extend the range of a
WiFi network. Other useful
networking products
offered by the
company include
the Sagem
F@st Plug range,
which enable
users to create
an Ethernet
network using
a house’s existing
electrical wiring.
