targets of a phishing attack to click a link in an
email, according to a new study by phishd by
MWR InfoSecurity. Its analysis of 100 simulated
attack campaigns targeting almost a million
individual users shows that when emailed a
request to connect via a social media platform,
25% of users clicked the link to be taken to a
fake login screen. Of these, 80.85% downloaded
a file and 54.23% provided user credentials
such as username and password combinations.
Financial lures (e.g. sending an invoice to
download) were the least successful approach.
