Firstly, the need to ensure that customers’ data is managed well, secure and backed up. Secondly, the desire from customers to move to the cloud. We are finding that in all areas of our business customers have a thirst for consumerised technology in the workplace. Where do you see the next big opportunity? We are seeing a big move towards bespoke software development. Customers are moving away from a ‘one size fits all’ attitude to a tailor-made one. This can manifest itself in mobile apps, CRM and ERP – each talking to live wallboards and telephony. What would make your day job easier? I have a great job. We have experienced a lot of growth recently. Hiring good people in the first place is key and sharing a vision to those people so they know why we exist is paramount. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? Hire for Attitude, not just Aptitude. Without the correct attitude, a person (and business) doesn’t have the building blocks to grow. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? Sooner, bigger, faster. Describe your most embarrassing moment. Ummmm! What was your first job? Paperboy – 3 rounds some weeks! Sunday papers were a split round due to the size of them! What would be your dream job? Touring Drummer or Golfer – seeing the world, doing something you love. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car? Aston Martin DB11. Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? Depends on the night of the week. Usually fine dining, though. Favourite holiday destination? Florence – art, fine food and wine. How do you like to spend your spare time? Family and football. The One Point unify IT, business telecoms, business mobiles, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Customer Relationship Management (CRM) business software and digital services into one easy-to-manage solution. In 2014, it entered into a strategic partnership with technology solutions company IT@Spectrum to jointly offer an expanded package of IT managed services, including print. In 2016, the two companies cemented their partnership by moving into new £2.75 million premises on the Bridgehead business park close to the Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire. In the 12 months since then, they have grown their turnover by almost 30%, increased their combined client base by nearly 15% and taken on 18 new members of staff, bringing the combined workforce to 90. Shortly after moving into The View, The One Point and IT@Spectrum issued an open invitation for businesses to come and see the latest technologies in action. So far, more than 2,000 visitors have taken up the invitation. www.theonepoint.co.uk
