the franker, all consumables and service
under one single regular payment.”
However, within the entry-level
market many businesses don’t need or
use VAT applicable products (or use them
so little that the loss of a VAT reclaim
of 30 or 40 pence is offset by the lower
machine costs) and so don’t need to
upgrade their machines and it’s here that
again Totalpost’s customer-centric service
is evident.When providing companies
with a total mailroom solution Totalpost
does not adopt a ‘rip and replace’
approach to multi-franker users; instead
it will, where relevant, retain legacy kit
and include it with the new machines
under a new single contract that also
includes maintenance and consumables.
Future trends
Royal Mail recently announced that
during the early part of 2013 it will
introduce changes to some tariffs on
frankers with ‘smart meters’, moving
to blue ink as opposed to red ink for
franking impressions. This change will
be effective in the New Year and in
anticipation Totalpost, working with Royal
Mail has already undergone testing on
its blue ink and has gained Royal Mail
approval.
“We have geared up our production,
gained approval and are building up
stocks well in advance. This follows our
previous achievement of becoming the
first non-OEM Company to have our red
ink independently approved by Royal Mail
some years ago,” says Hymers.
“I’d also expect to see an increase in
our other mail services in 2013, especially
in tracking and monitoring returned mail.
With mail costing nearly twice what
it was in recent years and impending
Landfill Tax increases for waste paper,
companies are turning to our returned
mail services to enable them to monitor

accuracy, cleanse their databases using

Totalpost will be exhibiting at
Remax – the largest trade fair in
Europe for the remanufactured
ink and toner cartridge industry,
which will be held in conjunction
with Paperworld 2013 in
Frankfurt Germany, between
26 and 29 January.
Totalpost is one of Britain’s
largest suppliers of Royal Mail
approved remanufactured and
compatible franker cartridges and
sells well in excess of 250,000 to
customers around the world. Having
attended Remax for the past four
years, Hymers believes the success
of the event has contributed to the
increasing demand for its services.
Over the past 12 months
Totalpost has invested £100,000,
doubling the size of its cartridge
manufacturing facility, to help meet
the growing worldwide demand for
remanufactured and compatible
franking cartridges.
“Year on year, we’ve seen an
increase in business requests as
customers across Europe continue
looking for more cost effective and
environmentally-friendly solutions
to their printing and franking needs.
“At Remax we will show our
complete range of products in
Hall 3.1, stand D47
, including
new high capacity cartridges. Our
solutions enable customers to both
reduce their mailroom expenditure
and meet their green procurement
strategies.
“We pride ourselves on our
approach to quality control and
testing and through our investment,
have ensured the business is
perfectly placed to respond to this
demand from markets around the
world.”

the returned mail information we provide
them from the Royal Mail returns; and
become greener and leaner in the process
through our full recycling facility for
redundant mail after it is processed.”
Secure solutions
Another area of growth which Hymers
expects to see in 2013 is in mailroom
security screening.With mailroom
security becoming increasingly important
and postal threats being one of the most
common types of criminal attack on
organisations and individuals across the
country; many companies are starting
to use specialist equipment to screen
their mail.
Totalpost entered the x-ray threat
detection market when it saw a gap in
the market for a UK Company to provide
the highest quality of x-ray screening
equipment incorporating the latest
technology, coupled with outstanding
customer support and service and
works in partnership with world-leading
technology specialists in the UK and
overseas.
Despite being a relatively new player
in the market, Totalpost is becoming
recognised as the supplier of choice for
those that require the best equipment
available. The firm has quickly expanded
and now employs a team of industry
experienced engineers. Installations
have been made across a variety
of applications including corporate
mailrooms and airports and the firm has
worked closely with cargo handlers and
forwarders.
Experienced x-ray security
professional, Nick Downer, recently joined
as National Sales Manager for Totalpost’s
X-Ray Threat Detection division with a
brief to accelerate growth within this
sector, expand sales into vertical markets,
as well as playing a role in consolidating
the existing customer base.
