MANAGED PRINT
Stationery suppliers
take on managed print
With cutting costs and reducing carbon footprint high on the
corporate agenda, switching from a transactional-based printer
procurement model to outsourcing the management of your
printer fleet can deliver significant savings on both counts.
Industry analysts Photizo say that an organisation will on average
cut costs by 30% after they first implement a Managed Print Services
(MPS) programme. Other benefits include a fixed monthly cost, which
affords the ability to budget more accurately; reduced pressure on IT,
freeing up time to focus on core business projects; as well as improved
reliability and higher productivity. With this in mind, it’s no surprise
there’s been a wider adoption of MPS in businesses of all sizes and in
all sectors, which has in turn led to a marked increase in the number of
providers.
More and more office stationery companies are offering tailored and
locally available MPS to their customers as they recognise the value
that lies in the ability to offer clients a one-stop service that bundles
traditional transactional office products, including stationery, printers
and consumables, with service, spare parts and consultancy services –
all under one single contract.
Improved ease of ordering
Office Depot’s Print Solutions and Managed Print Services offerings
have now become part of its Business Services Division, which also
incorporates facilities management supplies and office furniture. This
division has been created to improve ease of ordering and will support
businesses in making cost savings by adding value to existing offerings
and providing a range of additional services.
The MPS offering is focused on providing flexibility in the choice
of print supplies and more efficient management of copy and print
services. By utilising a consolidated base of quality suppliers, it is
able to lower the cost of consumables such as ink and toner and also
significantly cut down on the high waste levels and delivery costs
generated when customers enlist multiple providers.
These efforts have led to Office Depot being able to provide a 30%
reduction in processing costs for customers. The Managed Print Services
team also incorporates a dedicated offering focused on servicing small
to medium sized enterprises called Print Unlimited, which provides
machine rental, consumables, service, breakdown repair and an
unlimited printing tariff for one monthly payment.
