SMART worked directly with
Microsoft to develop its new SMART
Room System for Microsoft Lync which
is expected to be widely available this
summer. A turnkey solution for meeting
rooms that simplifies the collaboration
experience for both virtual and face-to-
face participants, it provides seamless
online collaboration through sharing of
real-time video, voice and data.
Microsoft’s internal studies have
indicated that it takes an average of
eight to 12 minutes to begin a meeting
using technology, but with the SMART
Room System for Microsoft Lync, the
start-up time for an active session
with full access to audio, video and
presentation data is reduced to a single
click.
The comprehensive SMART Room
System includes one or more SMART
Board interactive displays; an ultra wide
angle, high definition camera offering
109 degree field of view – the widest
field of view of any high definition
video conferencing camera; customised
speakers and microphones; and an extra
large room control console with an
11.6” (29.5 cm) display that gives users
the ability to easily control meeting
content and perform actions such as
changing the screen layout, displaying
data and visuals and emailing notes at
the end of the session.
Each component has been
specifically designed and manufactured
by SMART for seamless integration
ensuring a consistently rich meeting
experience that enables productive,
dynamic collaboration for all
participants. A custom-designed codec
is housed within the display enabling
native connectivity to Microsoft Lync
and no additional hardware or software
is required.
All of the room components are
designed to work together. This creates
a single integrated solution for audio,
video and data collaboration that
simplifies installation, support and
ensures that the components function
as a single system. Available in small,
medium and large systems for rooms
designed for two to 16 people and
ranging from nine to 28 square metres
(100 to 300 square feet).
The SMART display automatically
detects a finger or a pen without special
mode switches or buttons and allows
users to erase ink on the display with
their palm.

Mitsubishi Electric’s new high
resolution mobile UD740U (WUXGA)
projector is its most advanced model
to date. The latest addition to the
Mitsubishi 700 series range features
a built-in, thin client function, along
with tablet device connectivity.
Utilising the thin client function, users
can simply log onto a network and begin
displaying content in seconds, whether
from a local sever, the internet or the
cloud, allowing presenters access to files
directly through the projector itself.
For the first time, presenters are
untethered from their computers and
can control and present from any
location within the classroom or meeting
space. Free SidePad andWi-Fi Doc apps
enable users to use mobile devices to
access, mirror and control a computer
that is connected to the projector and
the sameWi-Fi network and present
files from their iOS or Android devices
directly through the projector.

switch to touch to manipulate content with gesture-like
movements.
The proprietary software features an intuitive
interface that allows facilitators to set up presentations
or brainstorming sessions quickly and facilitate meetings
anywhere with ease.
Olivetti’s range of whiteboards, the OliBoard 78 and
OliBoard 95, can be wall-mounted or mounted on a stand
for added flexibility. They offer a high level of writing
accuracy, with 300 dpi resolution; fast tracking rate for
improved activity; a stable, locked projector; and come in
two sizes – 78” and 95”.
Available with full dual pen usage, for two people
to write on the board simultaneously, or in a single pen
version, the boards are designed to be hard wearing and
scratch resistant and can also be linked to the Olivetti
OliPad Touch Tablet and Laptop range.
OliBoard software is available to create teaching
materials inWindows, Linux and Mac formats and offers
a range of expandable educational libraries which are
simple and easy to access. Access to the internet is also
possible so as to enable information to be researched,
on demand.
Various accessories are available for the OliBoards
including three different sets of integrated mounting
kits, a shelf and compartment for a laptop and a height-
adjustable mobile stand.
