Totalpost in £100K ‘green’
cartridge investment
Mailroom specialist Totalpost Services
Plc has created new jobs and doubled
the size of its cartridge refilling factory
with a £100,000 investment.
Totalpost has also developed its offering further this year by
responding to upcoming European legislation by introducing a
range of franking machines to cater for the latest VAT increases
affecting businesses.
The company has invested a further
£40,000 to help meet the growing
demand for recycled and refilled
franking cartridges, following last
summer’s £60,000 investment.
Totalpost is one of the UK’s biggest
suppliers of refilled franker cartridges
and sells well in excess of 250,000 to
customers around the world.
The best-in-class new filling machine
has been installed at the company’s
dedicated factory in Alston, Cumbria,
creating three new jobs and extending its
already successful Apprentice programme.
“This new investment is a direct
response to a growing demand from
customers for a greener solution to
their printing and franking needs,” says
Totalpost Services Plc Managing Director
David Hymers MBE.
“Modern technology has delivered
unprecedented standards of reliability
to the refilled cartridge market,” David
continues. “By getting their franking
cartridges refilled, clients reduce their
costs as well as their carbon footprint and
we’re anticipating a significant growth in
demand from across the UK, Europe and
the USA.”
To help deliver the most cost-effective
product solutions, Totalpost offers full
in-house design and development on
new products. All coding of any country-
specific cartridges is completed using
Totalpost’s own software, with all
updates created immediately.
“Now that our filling capacity has
increased dramatically, combined with
availability of the broadest range of
products in this niche market, our dealers
worldwide will be delighted with the
speed of order turnaround combined with
a high quality experience and a 100%
guarantee in the event of any issue,”
says David.
This latest investment will double
filling capacity and is expected to
increase Totalpost’s 10% share of the
European franker ink cartridge market.
Royal Mail has announced that all
retail services will be subject to
VAT fromApril 2012, which means
an automatic 20% increase in
postage for services including Royal
Mail Heavyweight and all Mailsort
products
This follows last year’s trial, which
saw a VAT increase on select retail
postage including Royal Mail express
services, tracked services and some
international postage.
To meet the new legislative
requirements, Totalpost has been
working with two of the world’s leading
suppliers of franking machines to
offer its customers the latest franking
technology.
All machines from this range have
built-in Royal Mail approved ‘smart
meters’ to calculate postage cost taking
into consideration the VAT
increase, making it easier
for companies to adopt
the changes quickly.
The advanced
technology also provides
reports for each
transaction to allow
companies to claim back
the additional VAT cost,
saving businesses time
and money.
Managing Director
David Hymers says, “The new VAT
rules will undoubtedly affect
many businesses. Our aim
is to provide our customers
with equipment that can
handle the increased demands
Totalpost puts its stamp on franking range
placed on them, as older machines do
not have the technology to calculate
the new costs. These franking machines
are also fully approved by Royal Mail.”
Totalpost provides the widest range
of Royal Mail approved remanufactured
cartridges and inserting machines
to provide an eco-friendly and cost
effective product for businesses.
New products are designed
and developed in house using the
company’s own bespoke software for
any country specific coding.
Established in 2002, Totalpost
operates from centres inWarrington,
Swindon and Cumbria and also offers a
variety of other products and services
including mailing machine sales and
maintenance, mail sorting and opening,
fulfilment, returned mail management,
disaster recovery, document scanning
and storage.
