Writing instruments
Staedtler launched a new line of
products at Paperworld combining two
of its specialities, writing instruments
and FIMO. FIMO modelling clay can be
used to personalise pens, making them
ideal for gifts. The firm also launched
an iPhone and iPad app called FIMO
creative tips, where users can search for
tips based on material, theme and level
of difficulty.

German writing instruments
manufacturer Schneider
www.
schneiderpen.de
has expanded its Slider
range, which uses Viscoglide technology
and introduced its Breeze range. The
ergonomic rollerball pens feature a
reserve cartridge and a haptic structure
prevents fingers from slipping off the
barrel. Breeze writes using the newly
developed roller cartridge 852 which
the company says sets new standards in
terms of ease.
Faber-Castell was promoting its
Grip concept – the ergonomic grip
has resulted in several awards from
independent organisations throughout
the world, as well as its environmental
credentials, particularly the fact that it is
carbon neutral.

Binding systems
One new binding solution promoted is
Bindo (
www.bindosystem.com
). Suitable
for creating fully bound presentations
and reports, it consists of three pieces:
the cover; a plastic bar with two prongs
and an adhesive strip that secures it
to the inside of the back cover; and a
second bar that closes off the binding
system once all the paper is in place. The
system can be used to create documents
of up to 400 pages and is available with
a wide choice of hard and soft covers,
with or without windows. These can be
ordered plain or pre-printed. Lighter
options can be personalised on an
office printer.
Due to launch in June is the Innobind
binding system, notable for its speed,
simplicity and the fact that it can be
used to make fully recyclable booklets
without the use of glue, staples, clips or
rings. The secret is the patented Innobind
Office punch, which punches inch-long
tabs along the edge of the pages to be
bound. By dividing a document into two
equal halves and punching one stack face
up and one face down, the tabs on the
two stacks are offset allowing them to
interlock in a secure bind.
Bound documents are completely
flat; open fully for easy reading, copying
and annotation (a big advantage for left-
handed users); and can be updated at any
time by adding or removing sheets.

Another binding system was being
demonstrated by Polish company Opus
(
www.opus.pl/en
). Called easyRing, the
patented system uses small, removable,
re-usable plastic rings like those on a
keyring to bind together hole-punched
sheets. Available in a range of sizes
(10/15/20/30mm) and colours (black,
white and transparent), the rings can also
be used as cable tidies.
Pukka Pads
Pukka Pads participated with two
exhibition stands, one promoting its wide
range of Pukka branded products and
another representing its FSC certified
production plant which offers both Pukka
brand pads and own label products. Also
launched was the new Pukka Business
Form range consisting of NCR / Non NCR
pads and business forms.
In addition following the introduction
of the Pukka Fun activity and colouring
pad range in 2011, Paperworld 2012 saw
the launch of a complimentary stationery
range including chalks, scissors, pencils,
paints and sharpeners.

Air purifiers
At Paperworld Fellowes expanded its FM
offering with the launch of a new series
of air purifiers.
To start with, Fellowes is launching
two PlasmaTrue models: a £325 model
suitable for cleaning areas with a
floorspace of 21 square metres (approx.
3-5 people) and a £375 version for 28
square metres (4-6 people).
Both feature a four-stage filtration
process comprising a carbon filter to
remove odours and large particles; a
sanitising layer to prevent bacteria, dust
mites and fungi from building up on the
filter; HEPA filtration to trap impurities as
small as 0.3 microns; and an ionising unit
that destroys airborne pollutants and
germs at the molecular level.
Fellowes claims that this
comprehensive process removes 99.7%
of pollutants, including allergens, mould
spores, pollen, dust mites, germs, viruses
and odours, as well as emissions from
new carpeting and furniture and toner
dust from office printers and MFPs.
