Frankfurt here we come
Now is the time to start making plans for
Paperworld 2014 which is taking place
at Messe Frankfurt, Germany on January
25-28. Europe’s leading paper, office
supplies and stationery exhibition provides
a showcase for new trends and the perfect
launchpad for new products. Visit www.
paperworld.de to plan your visit.
Dressed to impress
Conqueror took to the catwalk at the
Coronation Festival held at Buckingham
Palace on July 11-14 when models
showed off shimmering origami dresses
made entirely from paper.
The Coronation Festival organised by
the Royal Warrant Holders Association in
the gardens of Buckingham Palace featured
an exhibition of more than 200 suppliers
to the Royal Family and a 400-seat catwalk
show featuring spectacular outfits made
from products supplied by a selection of
exhibitors.
Talk Paper, the office and business
papers division of Antalis and a Royal
Warrant holder for more than 20 years,
supplied Conqueror fine paper in a range
of thicknesses and sizes, which enabled
up-and-coming British designer Joey Bevan
to create dresses with both softly flowing
and structural sections. The pearl sheen of
Conqueror Golden Haze Pearlescent added
an aura of luxury.
Talk Paper is the only paper merchant
to supply paper products to the Palace
including Conqueror, Datacopy and the
Image Impact range of office paper.
A strong bond
Tesa’s new general purpose crossweave
filament tape is ideal for applications that
require a really strong bond. Perfect for
packaging, carton sealing and logistics,
tesa 4578 combines PET filaments,
similar to those used in tire cording;
a transparent polypropylene film; and
synthetic rubber adhesive that
creates a secure bond across
a wide range of substrates,
including polyethylene and
polypropylene. Because
the fibres are impossible to
break or tear, the tape makes
it harder to tamper with
packages.

Precision glueing
3M’s new Scotch Super Glue range
features a precision applicator for
accurate repairs and craft work. Scotch
Super Glue Precision Applicators release
glue when the bottle is squeezed and draw
residue back in when pressure is released.
This, says 3M, creates 60% less mess than
traditional metal tubes and stops dried
glue from collecting around the tip.
The range includes both liquid and gel
options. These include a
Single Use Scotch Super
Glue Gel pack containing
four miniature single-use
tubes for one-off jobs; a
Scotch Super Glue Pen with
a push-point tip; a Scotch
Super Glue Brush-On with
a built-in brush for applying
thin layers of glue; and a
faster drying Scotch Super
Glue Advanced Formula.

Mondi expands CO2
neutral range
Mondi has added high speed inkjet papers
to its range of CO2 neutral products, in
response to growing demand for climate
neutral products in the professional
printing market.
Johannes Klumpp,
marketing and sales
director for Mondi
Uncoated Fine
Paper, said:
“Climate and
resource protection
is a vital part of our product
stewardship and is increasingly turning into a
competitive advantage for Mondi.”
Together with the climate protection
specialist ClimatePartner, Mondi calculated
the carbon footprint of its paper products
back in 2010. Following this exercise, it
made Color Copy premium laser paper CO2
neutral from cradle to Mondi gate and, more
recently, launched a CO2 neutral option for
NAUTILUS SuperWhite.
Mondi now has in place an enterprise-
wide program for calculating the carbon
footprint of all paper and packaging products.
Dr. Klaus Reisinger, CEO of ClimatePartner
Austria, said: “The paper’s carbon footprint,
which makes up roughly 70% of the carbon
footprint of a print job, has been calculated
and the measures for reduction have been
determined jointly with Mondi.”
Bigger flavour
Wholebean instant coffee Kenco Millicano is now available in
a larger 500g tin suitable for offices and other out-of-home
environments. The coffee combines the convenience of an
instant drink with the flavour of real coffee thanks to a roast
and ground bean content of 15%. All beans are sourced from
Rainforest Alliance-certified farms.
