It is estimated that 25 square metres of
native British woodland captures and
locks up one tonne of CO2.
Powerful message
“Capturing CO2 through the
Woodland Carbon scheme offers a
unique opportunity to demonstrate
a commitment to environmental
protection,” says Jones. “Premier’s
Carbon Capture initiative delivers
a powerful message - one that
reinforces both our and our customers’
commitment to carbon reduction.
“Capturing carbon is a win win; it
costs just two pence per ream of A4
80gsm office paper and getting involved
couldn’t be easier. Our customers are
embracing it and it’s also helping us to
win new business.”
For every order placed, Premier can
calculate the amount of CO2 generated
in the production and delivery of
the paper. Customers simply elect to
capture the associated carbon and the
amount is added as a separate item to
their invoice.
All monies are paid direct to The
Woodland Trust who plant woodland
at one of their accredited woodland
creation sites in the UK. “100% of
all capture charges are paid to The
Woodland Trust – 75 pence per pound is
spent planting trees and 25 pence in the
pound supports the infrastructure that
facilities the tree planting,” says Jones.
“Customers choosing to
capture carbon receive a certificate
documenting the volume of carbon
captured and can also use the nationally
recognisedWoodland Carbon logo, in
conjunction with the paper purchased.
“This offers both the customer and
potentially their clients, the opportunity
to visibly demonstrate a strong
commitment to using reduced CO2
paper,” says Jones.
Independent verification
TheWoodland Trust’s Woodland Carbon
scheme is supported by the Forestry
Commission and is independently
verified by leading auditors Price
Waterhouse Coopers. All newly created
woodland will be managed under Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) Standards.
Together, these measures will ensure the
delivery of projected carbon capture.
Green papers
The Premier Paper Group offers the UK’s
widest range of office papers, including
many internationally recognised brands
which offer outstanding environmental
credentials over and above the ability to
capture carbon.
Exclusive to Premier Paper is
the Evolution range of business-
quality premium recycled papers.
Available in three variants, Evolution
Business, Evolution Everyday and
Evolution Value, these papers offer
no compromise on quality and will
further help companies to reduce their
environmental footprint.
All three office papers are produced
from post consumer waste with the
Business and Everyday grades certified
to FSC standards. These high quality
office papers are extra white, extra
clean and extra bright; suitable for a
wide range of everyday output; and
offer the same printability as non-
recycled papers.
Produced from recycled post-
consumer waste using low CO2
production methods, environmental
performance and product quality is
strictly controlled throughout the
paper making process. The papers are
produced in mills which have been
awarded both the ISO 9001 quality
standard and ISO 14001 environmental
management accreditation.
Another paper brand with
impeccable green credentials available
from Premier is MultiCopy, which
is manufactured at the ISO 14001
certified Nymolla Mill in southern
Sweden. Nymolla is an integrated mill
that produces pulp and paper on the
same site, which cuts down on the
need for transportation considerably.
In addition, raw materials are mostly
sourced from within a 60 miles radius
further minimising the environmental
impact of the paper making
operations.
The MultiCopy range includes
MultiFine, a wood-free offset paper
with high brightness, good bulk
and superb opacity; Multilaser for
mono laser printing and high volume
