Perfect selfies
every time
Too shy to ask a stranger to take your photo?
Or perhaps you want an unusual angle or
perspective? Either way, the iStabilizer Monopod
could be just what you are looking for.
The combination of an extendible arm and
Bluetooth remote control makes this the perfect
selfie creator. Just attach your camera to the end
of the monopod, hold it in front of you (or above,
below, behind or to the side) and use the Bluetooth
Shutter Remote to take a photo or record video.
The iStabilizer collapses to one foot for easy
portability and has a maximum length of three
foot when fully extended. It works with virtually
all smartphones, digital cameras and camcorders
and comes with a mount so that it can be used
with any tripod.
The Bluetooth Shutter Remote lets you snap
photos and videos from up to 35 feet away.
BT launches hosted cloud telephony service
BT has introduced a hosted cloud telephony service for SMEs that delivers traditional office
phone features via an IP phone and BT internet connection.
BT Cloud Voice enables users to make business-grade IP voice calls over the internet,
with advanced features like conferencing, call recording, desktop sharing, soft phones and a
smartphone app.
There are three licence options: entry-level BT Cloud Voice Basic; BT Cloud Voice Connect for
office-based users who need more flexibility than a simple phone system; and BT Cloud Voice
Collaborate for mobile or home workers who require additional features such as audio and web
conferencing and the ability to make calls via multiple devices.
Users are supplied with an IP phone and a BT call plan, which can be shared amongst users, with
minutes purchased at a company level.
BT Cloud Voice is set-up and managed through an online portal, which makes it easy for
customers to add new users and set call preferences, such as call forwarding and call waiting.
Ahead of the curve
A more engaging and immersive experience
is promised with Samsung’s new 27-inch
curved monitor, the S27D590C.
Samsung says a curved screen offers a
better viewing experience than a traditional
flat screen as, by matching the natural curve
of the eye, it provides a consistent viewing
distance from the centre of the screen to its
edges.
The curve also creates a wider field of
vision and gives a greater sense of depth,
creating a 3D-like effect that is most apparent
when playing games, such as racing and flight
simulators, avatar-based adventures and
shooting games.
To maximise the screen’s suitability for
movies and gaming, it comes with built-
in 5-watt dual speakers and a game mode
function that can be activated with a simple
touch of a button. Other features include a
viewing angle of 178 degrees, a contrast ratio
of 3000:1 and 350 cd/m2 brightness.
Hybrid PBX for SMEs
Panasonic has introduced a new unified
communications platform for small and
medium-sized businesses.
The KX-NS700 is a smart hybrid PBX
system supporting up to 288 extensions, when
fitted with an expansion unit. It comes with
built-in applications including a call centre
solution, mobile integration and voicemail.
Panasonic European product manager
Carlos Osuna said: “The KX-NS700 is a
cost-effective legacy and IP communication
system for companies with up to 250 users in
a single site. It can be flexibly configured and
expanded, making it the ideal alternative to
cloud-based solutions.
“The system has sufficient capacity for
legacy and IP ports, and an activation key or
expansion cabinet that can be used to expand
the system whenever required. It can connect
to the Panasonic KX-NS1000 system to create
a small, medium or enterprise solution.”
The PBX features a built in DISA to transfer
calls without an operator. It can also support
the needs of supervisors in call centres, by
providing queue announcements, live status
monitoring, activity reports and automatic
conversation recording.
IP features include mobile linking,
integrated voicemail and e-mail, instant
messaging (chat) and presence information.
New notebook brand
Paper-Oh is a new notebook brand from
Hartley & Marks, the power behind the
Paperblanks brand. Paper-Oh notebooks build
on Hartley & Marks’ heritage in publishing
and bookbinding with lie-flat bindings and a
flexible, tactile feel.
Phone, wallet, charger
The two things no man leaves home without are their
wallet and mobile phone. So it makes perfect sense
to link the two in some way. This is just what Unikia has
done with the Seyvr Power Wallet. An attractive leather
wallet in its own right, Seyvr doubles as a back-up power supply
for a mobile phone. Available in Apple Lightning and MicroUSB
versions in brown or black, the wallet incorporates a 6mm thick
rechargeable battery and an integrated charging cable. It is available
from cuckooland.com for £49.95 or £59.95.
