Lighting
With the need to save costs and
protect the environment, the drive
for energy effciency is accelerating.
In April 2010, the mandatory Carbon
Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy
Effciency Scheme was introduced
to improve energy effciency in large
public and private sector organisations
responsible for around 10% of the
UK’s CO
2
emissions.
The Carbon Trust Implementation
Services and Siemens Financial Services
have combined forces and together are
offering leases, loans and other fnancing
options to all types of organisation
seeking to reduce their energy use.
Products from cars to houses are now
graded on their energy effciency and
organisations from all sectors are seeking
commercially viable energy saving
solutions for the short and long term.
One such solution is LED Lighting.
Lighting in buildings accounts for
around a sixth of total UK electricity
consumption. Of this, 73% comes from
industrial and commercial premises,
with the remainder from domestic
consumption.
How LED lighting can help a
business reduce light-related
electricity consumption by 60%.
60% for fuorescent tube replacements,
saving money for the user and carbon
dioxide emissions.
Another signifcant saving is in
maintenance and replacement costs;
NET LED Tubes have a life expectancy
of over 50,000 hours, three times longer
than traditional lighting. This also
reduces recycling costs and the amount
of waste produced.
Other important benefts of NET
LED Lighting are that no ultra violet
(UV) light is produced, which is ideal
for museums and galleries; less heat is
generated; the lighting starts instantly at
full brightness and won’t ficker or hum;
and there is no glass or toxic chemicals
such as phosphor, mercury or lead that
are found in fuorescent lamps.
Self-fnancing
Furthermore, the purchase and
installation of NET LED Lighting can
be self fnancing.When lighting is
purchased on a 3 or 4-year lease
(subject to status), the actual quarterly
savings can be greater than the funds
required to fnance lease repayments.
This results in an installation requiring
no capital outlay, especially as the initial
payment can be deferred for 3 to 6
months (giving you time to recoup the
savings made on your energy costs). In
some cases, such as in underground car
parks where lighting is used 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week, a signifcant positive
cash surplus can be achieved each
quarter.
In certain circumstances, NET LED
Lighting offers an initial cash back
payment to cover the removal of the
old and installation of the new lighting
scheme, with repayment incorporated
into the lease. At the end of the lease
the goods become your property.
Organisations already enjoying
savings using NET LED Lighting include
Her Majesty’s Courts Service, The British
Library, Reigate and Banstead Borough
Council, Natural England, Nisa Today’s,
General Medical Council, Hertfordshire
Constabulary, The Health Protection
Agency and many hundreds of private
companies. A selection of customer

but compared to LED

also consume power.
The European Union, which is phasing
out old-style incandescent bulbs ahead of
a total ban in 2012, sees LED lighting as
a crucial step in reducing carbon dioxide
emissions because it uses up to 80% less
energy and lasts much longer. According
to a report by analyst frm Pike Research,
LEDs will make up almost half of the
annual commercial lighting market within
10 years.
NET Lighting
Replacing existing commercial lighting
with LEDs has never been easier.
Cambridgeshire-based NET LED Lighting
is a leading UK supplier of commercial
and industrial grade low electricity
consumption LED lighting solutions
designed to replace existing conventional
lighting. Its NET LED Tubes, NET LED 2D
Lamps, NET LED Flood Lights and NET LED
Street Lighting are already being used by
public and private sector organisations to
light council offces, car parks, libraries,
police stations, factories, warehouses
and shops.
