A4 MFP prints
A3 on demand
Any business that
ends up buying an A3
MFD simply to satisfy
an occasional need
for A3 output may be
interested in Konica
Minolta’s new bizhub
36 and 42 mono MFDs.
In a Konica Minolta first, these fully featured A4 MFPs support
A3 printing via the bypass tray, giving customers the option
to print occasional spreadsheets, detailed diagrams and other
documents in larger sizes, without the need to invest in a more
expensive A3 machine.
Samsung has followed HP’s
lead and launched a laser
printer with WiFi Direct for
peer-to-peer connectivity with
a WiFi-enabled device. The
new feature brings greater
flexibility to mobile users by
allowing them to print without
being connected to a wireless
network.
One of three models in
Samsung’s ML-2160/2165 series
of 20ppm personal laser printers,
the WiFi-enabled ML-2165W
also allows users of Android and
iOS tablets and smartphones
to print files and documents via
Samsung’s MobilePrint app.
All models in the range feature
Samsung’s Easy Printer Manager
for real-time remote monitoring of
devices and the Easy Eco Driver,
which can be used to remove text
and images from prints without
altering the original document.
This is a useful paper-saving
feature, but an even better one
is automatic two-sided printing,
which is missing from these
devices.
Prices start at £79.99 for the
ML-2160, rising to £99.99 for the
ML-2165W.

HP and Condé Nast have started
a trial to gauge the potential of
distributing magazine content
to web-enabled printers for
output in people’s homes. The
service will enable subscribers to
schedule the delivery of content
from publications such as Allure,
Details, Epicurious, Glamour,
Golf Digest, Self and Wired
directly to their personal printers.
HP says publishers will benefit
because it will enable them ‘to
reach readers more frequently
than with print magazines and
more tangibly than via email’.
Conveniently for HP, it will
also use a lot of ink.
Panasonic may no longer be
active in the copier/MFD market,
but it still produces compact
desktop devices for home
workers and small businesses.
The latest addition to its
range, the KX-MB1500, is an
18 pages per minute mono
laser printer/copier and colour
scanner. A second model in the
series, the MB1520 also includes
a fax and speakerphone.
Both feature a slanted control
panel making it easy to operate
the devices from a seated or
standing position; an internal
output tray for a small footprint;
and an Easy Print Utility that
allows users to merge and print
files created within different
applications.
