Bulletin
Canon has extended its
uniFLOW print management
solution to mobile devices,
such as tablets and
smartphones, enabling
customers to offer employees
and visitors a driverless
printing solution governed by
the same security and cost
control features as network
printing activities, with the
ability to measure, track and
charge back mobile printing
costs.
UniFLOW version 5.1 allows
smartphone or tablet users to
send jobs to a uniFLOW-enabled
printer as easily as they can
from their normal PC simply by
sending an e-mail. As well as
removing the need to download
a new application or drivers, this
system means that users don’t
even need to be connected to
the corporate network to print.
Alternatively, they can send
jobs to a printer via a web
browser or, for mobile workers
with laptops, via NT-ware’s
internet printer driver.
uniFLOW v5.1 can create
a print job from the body text
of an email as well as from
attachments, including PDFs,
Microsoft Offce fles and more
than 300 other formats. It
can also be used to download
and print documents from
GoogleDocs, SharePoint Online
and any FTP site via a link.
Organisations retain full
control of printing, as even
mobile users have to enter
a PIN code or use a printer’s
card authentication system
to output a print. Moreover,
IT administrators can modify
functionality by user group
to prevent visitors, part-time
employees or consultants from
scanning to email, for example.
