PrintIT Reseller - issue 49

01732 759725 4 BULLETIN IOP appointed EMEA wholesale distributor for IBM brand Internet of Printing BV (IOP) has been appointed as the EMEA-wide distributor of the IBM brand of replacement toner cartridges, designed for use in HP Printers the products are certified by IBM. IOP was founded to help resellers identify new revenue streams and optimise gross margins. It recently announced its range of 3D printers, supplies, accessories and training to help dealers with diversification and product line extension. Co-founder Mark Dawson, said: “Resellers face many challenges with their printer supplies businesses. On the one hand, OEMs are pulling back on their channel support programmes meaning that real margins are reduced. On the other hand, the cut throat competition and price compression associated with compatible or remanufactured alternatives means that cash margins are now even thinner on these offerings compared with the OEM products. It really isn’t a pretty picture out there.” He continued: “The IBM brand provides an escape from this. Despite decent remanufactured alternatives being available with a price advantage, for more than 20 years, and despite new build compatibles being available at a fraction of the reman cost, the OEM still has a circa 75% share. In a climate where every enterprise user needs to reduce office printing costs, this is irrefutable evidence that price is not the only driver. Brand recognition is clearly a much bigger influence on procurement decision making.” www.iopbv.com Trade Copiers hails inaugural Paperworld presence a success Having diversified the company in 2010, Trade Copiers is now one of the leading suppliers of genuine printer consumables such as toner cartridges, drum units and fuser units, from OEMs including Ricoh, Canon, Sharp, Konica Minolta and Kyocera. We will definitely be back next year, bigger and better.” www.tradecopiers.co.uk Cartridge World launches colour challenge Cartridge World research found that 64% of small and medium businesses have no managed printing programme in place, and are losing money by buying expensive printer brand ink and toner. To show that there is an alternative to this wasteful spending, the company created the Colour Challenge, an online challenge where participants guess as to whether or not an image was printed using expensive printer brand toner or Cartridge World colour toner. "When people participate in the Colour Challenge, they will be able to see that our toner matches the quality of printer brand toner," said Mark Pinner, CEO of Cartridge World North America. "By switching to Cartridge World printer cartridges, customers can not only receive the high quality colour printing they desire, but they can also save up to 30% compared to the printer brands." www.cartridgeworld.co.uk Growth in toner market to continue Transparency Market Research’s new market report -‘Printing Toners Market – Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends and Forecast, 2014 – 2020’, values the printing toners market at USD 2.91 billion in 2013 and says it is likely to reach USD 4.33 billion by 2020. This represents a CAGR of 5.8% during the forecast period from 2014 to 2020. In terms of volume, the global demand for printing toners stood at 216.0 kilo tons in 2013. The report states that growth of the digital printing market in the packaging sector is expected to be one of the primary factors driving the printing toners market during the forecast period. Additionally, shifting consumer preference from printing inks to toners coupled with increase in commercial printing are other key parameters expected to augment demand for toners over the next few years. However, adverse environmental impact of toners leading to the presence of stringent regulations is anticipated to hamper market growth. Development of bio-based toners is expected to open new opportunities for further development of the market over the next few years. www.transparencymarketresearch.com ARMOR showcases new OWA business inkjet range The remanufactured print consumables specialist unveiled its new business inkjet range at Paperworld 2018.
