robust digital camera designed

users who regularly record dictation at a PC
or Mac.
Combining strong ergonomic features with a
robust design, the DR-1200/2100/2200/2300 meets
professional users’ need for reliability and ease of use.
In this context, one of the microphones’ main selling
points is the built-in USB lead, which ensures that
the microphone and cable don’t become separated in
shared-use environments. Historically, the junction of
cable and microphone has been a major weakness of
dictation microphones, but not on Olympus’ models,
which have been specially designed to withstand the
rigours of day-to-day use.
Another useful feature is the ability to integrate
Directrec microphones with other applications. In
addition to five programmable keys for selecting
common jobs/routing, the microphones are
compatible with Dragon Naturally Speaking speech
recognition software for direct speech-to-text input
and can be integrated with third party applications via
a software developers kit (SDK). An optional barcode
scanner improves productivity by automatically adding
voice files to client/case/patient records.
The Directrec series is notable, too, for its ease
of use. One-handed operation by slide switch or
push button (on the DR-1200); a large stainless
steel trackball and click buttons for one-thumb PC
navigation and control; multi-colour LEDs; and a
symmetrical design make the microphones easy to use
both for right and left-handed users.
