Staedtler embraces digital age

Staedtler’s digital pen brings together paper-based and electronic note-taking. The combination of an electronic ballpoint pen and a digital receiver that clips to any notepad allows handwritten notes and drawings to be captured as they are written. Later these can be downloaded to a PC via USB for editing and distribution. Up to 100 A4 pages can be stored on the digital receiver before it becomes necessary to free up space by downloading.

Who needs scissors?

Scotch Easy Tear tape from 3M is being promoted as an easy-to-use alternative to other tapes on the market. In our tests, it certainly lived up to its name. Force of habit compelled me to tear the tape between my teeth and in this it did seem to perform better than other tapes mainly because the adhesive does not rip the skin from one’s lips. An alternative, equally easy, if slightly less accurate option is to tear the tape by hand. Verdict: A worthy rival to established brands, but not a life-changer.
