EUCALYPTUS
GLOBULUS
EUCALYPTUS
GLOBULUS
Eucalyptus globulus
could
be just one more obscure
technical name in Latin but in
fact it is the name of the tree
that helps you behave in
a more sustainable way
at the o ce or at home.
Eucalyptus globulus
is a particular
species of eucalyptus that is perfect
for producing the most environmen-
tally friendly o ce paper in the world,
due to its unique characteristics.
This discreet tree is an evergreen
plant species because it stays with its
leaves during Fall and Winter and has
therefore a stabilizing eect on the
climate by absorbing CO
2
and
releasing oxygen through photosyn-
thesis even during winter – sustain-
able all year round.
When producing paper from this tree
we can use 40% less wood than
producing paper from pine for
example, or using roughly a third of
the forest area that you would need
from birch for example, to produce
exactly the same amount of paper.
But what really makes
Eucalyptus
globulus
special is its fibres: they are
shorter and the cell wall is thicker
than all other tree species, When you
combine the unique characteristics
of
Eucalyptus globulus
with the
state-of-the art papermaking tech-
nology, where fewer chemicals are
used in pulp making, you obtain a
surprising o ce paper: Discovery a
lower grammage paper with 70g.m
-2
and 75g.m
-2
that manages to be
thicker than its 80g.m
-2
competition,
with better or comparable quality.
The use of lower grammage papers
allows end users to reduce the
amount of paper used without having
to reduce the number of printed
sheets or compromising on quality.
You have less paper waste volume
after print, and a more recyclable
one due to the fibre high cell wall
thickness.
Discovery makes sure that these
special trees will be around for many
centuries by responsibly managing its
renewable forests.
Discovery is designed for high
volume copying and printing
machines, especially in mono-
chrome applications. Lab tests
show that the performance of
Discovery surpasses that of most
standard 80 grammes quality
papers in the market.
When producing Discovery
75 g.m
-2
, we use 32% less wood
comparing with a standard Euro-
pean competitor paper in 80 g.m
-2
,
resulting in 6% less waste. Discov-
ery is also available in 70 g.m
-2
, for
internal applications and superior
environmental benefits, but always
with the same quality guarantee.
The use of lower grammage
papers allows end users to reduce
the amount of paper used without
having to reduce the number of
printed sheets or compromising
on quality.
