Surface Pro protection
Urban Armor Gear (UAG) has launched
two cases for Microsoft’s new Surface
Pro. The Plasma Series case, designed
for professionals who depend on their
tablet in the field and in the office,
features a 360 degree rotational hand
strap; built-in kickstand to transform
the tablet into a laptop; and Surface
Pen storage. For professionals on the go,
the new Metropolis Series case adds a
tactile soft grip and an aluminium stand
with five angular viewing positions.
Both cases meet military drop-test
standards (MIL STD 810G 516.6) when
used with a Microsoft Type Cover
keyboard. They are also compatible with
the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
Share your desktop
Airtame is a small wireless dongle and app that
plugs into the HDMI port of a TV or projector
and wirelessly streams the desktop from your
laptop or mobile device. The company behind the
device says it supports a number of features other
wireless streaming solutions do not, such as WPA2
Enterprise, Ethernet connections for noisyWi-Fi
environments (separate adapter required), Access
Point mode and Connect with IP.
Item tracker
TrackR pixel is a small Bluetooth tracking device
with an LED light that makes it easier to locate
items in the dark. The device can be attached to
any item that gets commonly misplaced – keys,
wallet, bags, even pets. Once paired with the free
TrackR app, users can ring their misplaced item and
make the TrackR pixel light up.
Indoor air quality monitor
Foobot, a smart indoor air quality monitor by
Airboxlab, is now available in the UK. Foobot
scans your environment, measuring VOCs, PM2.5s,
CO2, temperature and humidity and provides
warnings and advice via an accompanying app. It
can be used alone or in conjunction with other
smart devices.When connected to another device,
it can be used to trigger ventilation, filtration,
purification systems or appliances; control
temperature with a connected thermostat like
Google Nest; or relay information and advice via
voice with Amazon Alexa.
