Businesses are changing as the
effects of technology are felt in the
boardroom and wider corporate
environment. One of the latest and
smartest additions to the technological
landscape is laser projection – the
bright and sensible alternative to the
ageing lamp projector.
Satisfying HD expectations
Higher standards of image quality in
the consumer space, driven by the
proliferation of HD and the introduction
of 4K, mean that people now expect high
quality and visually engaging images in
the workplace as well. Pure laser light
source projectors offer bright, high
contrast pictures with excellent pure
colour accuracy and stability even in light
rooms, satisfying the uncompromising
demand for high quality, rich content
from multiple sources.
Empowering Businesses
Visually spectacular presentations
benefit everyone. Business leaders and
trainers want to make sure they give
presentations that are remembered
Leitz, once owner of the Dymo brand,
has re-entered the labeller market with
the launch of the super-fast Leitz Icon.
Suitable for a wide range of business
applications, from shipping labels to
name badges, the wireless label printer is
for all the right reasons. Equipping a
boardroom or meeting room with a
laser projector means that presenters
can devote all their attention to the
content of their presentation, rather than
worrying about the technology.
The beauty of laser’s lampless
technology is that it eliminates the risk
of over-heating and other unexpected
tech faults, minimising potential
disruptions. The lack of noisy fans keeps
sound levels very low, while an instant
power on and off function minimises
time spent waiting for the projector
lamp to warm up.
The addition of content collaboration
software can enhance laser technology
by enabling multiple types of content
to be collated on one screen in a variety
of flexible and interactive layouts. In
this way, laser projection is an enabling
technology that facilitates a more
connective, interactive and engaging
environment.
Sticking to the budget
The top priority for any presenter is to
deliver an engaging and inspiring message

An Icon for the modern office

However, for finance departments ,TCO
will always come out on top.
Downtime has a huge impact on
productivity and ultimately the financial
bottom line.With IT/AV teams under
increased pressure, it’s never been more
important for organisations to protect
against the disruption and maintenance
costs associated with failing technology.
With no need for lamp changes and
with impressive product lifecycles, laser
technology provides a non-disruptive
solution for users who list cost-efficiency
and durability as key considerations.
With no additional repair or replacement
costs, laser projection offers proven value
over its life span.
Laser projectors can also help
businesses meet their environmental
and corporate social responsibility goals,
thanks to mercury-free construction and
energy-saving features as standard.
Robert Meakin, senior product manager at Sony Europe,
explains how the next generation of laser projectors can
meet the practical, financial and functional needs of the
corporate market.

designed with ease of use in mind.
It comes with a built-in battery for true
portability and can print from tablets,
smartphones, PCs and Macs viaWiFi or
USB connectivity.
It uses neat and tidy ink-free thermal
printing technology to print onto paper
or plastic labels at speeds of up to 200
labels per minute.
Labels are supplied in simple drop-in,
swappable cartridges made from recycled
paper pulp. The cartridges monitor how
many labels they have left and, before
actually running out, alert the user that
they will soon need replacing.
Leitz provides a range of cartridges
that can be swapped in and out
depending on the user’s needs.
These include die-cut paper address
and shipping labels (in small and large
sizes) and a continuous paper tape,
available in a range of widths from 12mm
to 88mm, which Icon automatically cuts
to the required length.
The ability to create labels and
banners up to 2 metes in length and
print in different orientations – ideal for
labelling files – offers real flexibility.
The Icon can also be used with a
continuous plastic tape in a choice
of widths and colours. Hard-wearing,
water-proof and UV-resistant, the
plastic option is ideal for permanent
labelling applications.
Finally, Leitz offers a plain card
option for printing name badges and
inserts for lever arch files.
