The cost-saving alone on
the Olivetti products was
excellent. AR Digital was
competitive on lease costs,
we would spend much less on
running costs and I could see
where we would make huge
energy cost reductions.
Mark Gauntlett
document printing system I inherited was
simply not delivering and made managing the
company’s systems very difficult. They were
always breaking down and expensive to run.
What is more, when they broke down we
had to wait ages for engineers to come out
to diagnose the problem then wait for them
to return, sometimes days later, with the right
parts. This was unacceptable for critical areas
like the warehouse, for example, who need to
print out reports of export loads, for up to 5
trucks every 2 hours”.
The AR Digital Solution
Fortunately, Mark received a card from AR
Digital, introducing themselves and their
range of office equipment, so he called the
Managing Director, Rick Porazinski, to arrange
a meeting.
AR Digital are a local Olivetti and Panasonic
dealership who specialise in Print and
Document Management Solutions, including
multifunctional photocopiers, printers,
scanners and document management
software and are Olivetti’s “Best for Colour”
representative in South Wales, qualified,
at the highest level, to provide the best
solutions and service to users of Olivetti’s high
performance colour print and multi-functional
product range.
Managing Director, Rick Porazinski, explained
the AR Digital process, “We carried out a
thorough cost calculation exercise and took a
close look at each department’s requirements
before we made any recommendations. We
also realised Mark would need a transparent
and easy to use control system, one he could
trust and manage himself.”
A d-Color MF551 was installed, on trial for
a month and the positive feedback was
overwhelming. From the placing of the orders,
to the installation, of the new fleet, took
just 1 week. AR Digital spent a day and a
half training the staff and a member of each
department was allocated to be “in charge”
of the machine. The marketing department
is now able to produce its own high quality
colour brochures, in-house, thanks to the
d-Color MF280, which not only saves time
but quite a lot of money, as they no longer
need to outsource the printing; leaving the
department enough budget to spend on
promoting the vibrant Bisley range.
Mark Gauntlett, added, “I’m really impressed
by the web-based interface link from the
Olivetti machines to the network. It’s very
simple to use, gives me a lot of information
about print usage and I can check if there are
any issues. Other manufacturers have a similar
system but not as good as this”.
AR Digital’s own systems are updated every
20 minutes so they can see what each
machine is doing. Mark Gauntlett explained
how this impacts on Bisley;
“What I like is AR Digital’s engineer will turn
up, with a couple of boxes under his arm, and
then take the time to cast an eye over each
department’s machine. The machines are so
reliable, though, that there isn’t much for him
to do with our fleet”.
Rick Porazinksi is delighted with the excellent
working partnership between Bisley and AR
Digital. “Bisley runs its operation on very
clear and structured systems, as we do at AR
Digital. What is more, with our technically
advanced software expertise, we’re able to
adapt and be on hand quickly.”
When it comes to the manufacture
of steel storage for the office and
home you won’t find better than
Bisley. Bisley is currently undergoing
a major expansion programme and,
for this successful company to further
maximise its efficiency and cost-
effectiveness, there has been a need
to tackle the company’s office and IT
systems and that’s where local office
equipment supplier, AR Digital came to
the rescue.
Bisley’s steel cabinets are renowned world-
wide but the range of products, manufactured
at the Newport plant, is becoming increasingly
diverse, and are no longer restricted to their
familiar and traditional filing cabinets, but are
now also designed to meet growing needs
for contemporary home office storage space
while recognising that commercial working
environments are focussing increasingly on
personal storage needs.
Mark Gauntlett is Bisley’s IT Systems Engineer
based in Newport. His background in
infrastructure management has enabled him
to take control, almost single-handedly, of the
powerful computer network at the production
site. Mark also manages Bisley’s office printing
and IT equipment; vital to the day-to-day
running of the business.
Bisley’s Office Equipment Challenge
With high speed production comes the
need for highly productive, reliable and cost
effective office equipment and an impeccable
service to maintain them.
Bisley’s copier/printer/scanner fleet now
comprises 9 Olivetti A3 full colour multi-
functional devices, installed by Newport-based
AR Digital, to enable Bisley’s office-based
staff to go about everyday business with total
confidence and improved productivity.
The models installed by AR Digital include 7
d-Color MF280 and 2 d-Color MF551 models.
These copy and print, in full colour at 28
ppm and 45 ppm, respectively. They also
offer scanning capabilities and can provide
fax functions. These models have replaced
a variety of competitive models which have
proven difficult to manage.
As Mark explained “When I joined Bisley, the
